Fizuli is a raion of Azerbaijan, partially under the military control of Armenian forces[1] since the end of Nagorno-Karabakh War.

The town of Fizuli was founded in 1827 as a Russian settlement under the name Karyagino. In 1959, the town and the associated raion were renamed to Fizuli after the medieval poet Muhammad Fuzûlî[2].
