Chetana Nagavajara (Thai: เจตนา นาควัชระ, born 19 July 1937) is a former dean of Faculty of Arts, Silpakorn University and former vice president of Silpakorn University. He is currently a Professor Emeritus of German at Silpakorn University.[4]

Biography

Chetana Nagavajara was born in Bangkok, Thailand. He graduated from Debsirin School in 1954 and secured the first place in the national matriculation examination for literature. He finished his first year at Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University and received the Thai Government Scholarship to pursue further study in England. He obtained B.A. Honours in modern languages from Cambridge University. He later moved to Germany and received Dr.Phil. (magna cum laude) in comparative literature from University of Tübingen. He received honorary doctorates[5] from Prince of Songkla University, Srinakharinwirot University,[6] Chulalongkorn University, Mae Fah Luang University,[7] Chiang Mai University[8] and University of Tübingen.[9] Granting a second doctorate to the same person in this way is unprecedented at the University of Tübingen.[10]
