  • Comment: On the surface, this looks to be a well-sourced draft, but when you start looking at the actual references used, it's little more than a WP:OVERCITE bordering on WP:BOMBARDMENT. Half the refs do little more than verify facts, and there are way too many references that aren't about Ahgren (for example, we don't need three refs that verify the identity of a different player and don't even mention Ahgren). The "best" ref of the group is the TechSpot article, and even then it's not huge on the "depth of coverage".
In other words, ditch the play-by-play of his life career, summarize the important details of his life (major wins, sponsoring a tournament, etc), cut down on the number of references that don't even mention him (ideally to 0), and please add additional independent reliable sources that discuss the subject in detail. Ludwig Anders Ahgren (/ɑːɡrən/; born July 6, 1995) is an American streamer, and esports commentator and competitor.[2] Ahgren is best known for his live streams on Twitch, where he broadcasts video game related content as well as non-video game related content such as game shows, contests, and gambling.[3] He is also known for his work as an esports commentator at various Super Smash Bros. Melee tournaments. Since beginning streaming full-time in 2018, Ahgren has skyrocketed in popularity, becoming one of the largest streamers on Twitch,[4] and launched the Mogul Moves clothing brand.[5] He was briefly considered the 'fastest button-masher in the world.'[6]

Super Smash Bros. Melee career and early life

Growing up in a French American bilingual household with his mother and sister in New Hampshire (his father died in Ahgren's youth), Ahgren graduated cum laude from Arizona State University with a bachelor's degree in English Literature and a bachelor's degree in Journalism And Mass Communication in 2017.[7] As a Super Smash Bros. Melee competitor, Ahgren has seen limited but notable success. His most succesfull year came in 2017, where Ahgren took sets off of two of the top 104 ranked Melee players in the world at the time, Team Liquid's Chillindude[8] and Tempo Storm's Vro.[9] Ahgren also took a game off of the 12th ranked player in the world, Westballz,[10] later losing the set. Ahgren has achieved much more success as a Melee commentator, calling matches at many major Melee tournaments, including the GENESIS series.[11]

In 2019, Ahgren would later have a rematch with Chillindude at Mainstage, a Melee and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate national tournament in Ontario, California, where Ahgren would lose to Chillindude 4–5 in a grudge match in which each competitor wagered $100.[12]

In 2018, Ahgren organized a $1000 winner-take-all invitational Melee netplay tournament titled the Ludwig Ahgren Championship Series, which was won by Counter Logic Gaming's SFAT.[13] On 13 April, 2020, Ahgren announced a successor to the first Ludwig Ahgren Championship Series titled, Worldwide Ludwig Ahgren Championship Series[14]. It was renamed Ludwig Ahgren Championship Series 2 when Ahgren reaannounced it on 30 June 2020. As of December of 2020, the prize pool for Ludwig Ahgren Championship Series 2 ranks as the 10 largest in Melee history.[15]

Streaming career

Ahgren began streaming part-time on May 16, 2018.[16] After disclosing to his live stream audience that he had quit his job at Apple, (later admitting over a year later that he was actually fired), he dedicated himself to streaming full-time as a career. During 2018 and 2019, Ahgren's stream remained small, mostly streaming Super Smash Bros. Melee, Mario Party 2, and Dark Souls.[17] One of his most popular streams types that he titles an "Amazon Stream", a stream in which viewers submit items on Amazon for him to purchase, has lead to viewers submitting NSFW content.[18] Slowly, his streams began increasing in viewership, along with his subscriber count. As of 8 December 2020, Ahgren has one of the top 8 most subscribed channels on all of Twitch.[19] Ahgren's Twitch stream's former career high of 15,973 concurrent viewers and 30,185 unique viewers on a stream on April 13, 2020 where he shaved his head[20] was overcame on 7 December, 2020, when Ahgren's stream reached 115,000 concurrent viewers. After the stream he stated that he had so much fun streaming that day that it may have convinced him to stream for another year. He had previously stated that he would only stream for five years.

Ahgren and a few other Melee competitors and personalities, including Mew2King and Plup, were invited by 2016 Pokémon World Champion[21] Wolfe Glick to compete in an invitational tournament for Pokémon Sword and Shield,[22] where he would end up winning the entire event.[23][24] Ahgren also won an invitational tournament organized by Americas Cardroom to crown the 'King of Twitch Poker', defeating Mang0 and Destiny in the process.[25][26]

In November of 2019, Ahgren appeared in a Christmas themed advertisement for Micro-Star International promoting the RTX 20 Series graphics card.[27] This was not the first advertisement that Ahgren had stared in, as he had previously portrayed himself in an advertisement for Hotels.com in 2018.[28]

In 2019, Ahgren launched the Mogul Moves line of clothing. While mainly selling sweatshirts and hoodies, most displaying the phrase "Mogul Moves" in varsity font, Ahgren in the past has organized contests where his viewers create designs for him to sell on T-shirts and stickers, with the creators of the winning designs earning a portion of the profits.[29] For the Melee tournament GENESIS 7, Ahgren signed Melee player Zain "Zain" Naghmi to a short-term deal where Zain would wear a recently released Mogul Moves sweatshirt at the event.[30] Ahgren promised his viewers that if Zain won the entire event that he would release a limited edition bomber jacket. On the final day of competition in the Paramount Theatre in Oakland, California, Zain defeated Hungrybox to win the entire event,[31] and Ahgren ended up releasing the bomber jacket shortly after. It was reported by close friends of Ahgren, Brandon Ewing and Nathan Stanz, the general manager of esports organization Gen.G, on their podcast, Esportsmanlike Conduct, that Ahgren sold $100,000 of merchandise on May 10, 2020, when his release of Mogul Moves merchandise sold out in just over thirty minutes.[32]

In March of 2020, Ahgren announced that Youtooz would be creating a limited edition vinyl figure of him.[33] The figure is shown sporting Gucci slides which he owned at the time but has since lost in a bet.

In June of 2020, Ahgren was invited to compete in the chess tournament PogChamps ran by Chess.com. Commentated by chess Grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura and Woman FIDE Master Alexandra Botez,[34] Ahgren went 1-2 in the qualifying matches. with losses to American streamer Albert "BoxBox" Zheng[35] and German streamer Kevin "Papaplatte" Teller.[36] Ahgren's only win in the qualifying matches was against American streamer Joseph "Swiftor" Alminawi.[37] After his loss to Zheng, Ahgren played him in a match of blindfold chess ending in a draw. Hikaru Nakamura told Ahgren that he played better blindfolded than when he was able to see his pieces.[38] During his match with Teller, Ahgren claimed that Nakamura told him to play the Latvian Gambit, later finding out that he misread his advice.[39] In the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket, Ahgren defeated Canadian streamer Janet "xChocoBars" Rose 2-0. In between his matches with Teller and Alminawi, Ahgren purchased Dvoretsky's Endgame Manual, an extremely advanced chess manual written by International Master Mark Dvoretsky. Ahgren credits his strong endgame performance against Rose to the book, although stating that he had not completed it yet.[40] On June 17, 2020, Ahgren commentated two matches for the tournament, including one between Félix "xQc" Lengyel and Leslie "Fuslie" Fu, where Lengyel defeated Fu.[41] The next day he commentated the tournament with Grandmaster Robert Hess, calling two matches again, including one between Zheng and Joedat "Voyboy" Esfahani.[42] Ahgren went on to defeat Lengyel 2-1 in the semifinals[43] but went on to lose to Charlie "Cr1tikal" White in the finals with a score of 1-2. During his second match against White, Chess.com's Twitch stream crashed and Ahgren's stream accumulated 72,000+ viewers simultaneously as viewers went to watch the final matches.[44] Ahgren was featured on the cover of the August 2020 edition of Chess Life.[45]

In October of 2020, Ahgren was interviewed by The Washington Post discussing the PC game, Among Us, which he has played alongside Sodapoppin, Pokimane, and other popular Twitch streamers.[46]

On 7 December, 2020, Ahgren released a Christmas themed extended play titled, A Very Mogul Christmas.[47]
