Kanwar Singh Tanwar is an Indian politician who served as a Member of Parliament from Amroha constituency in Uttar Pradesh. He is a member of Bharatiya Janata Party.[2]
Early life[edit]
Tanwar was born to Hukum Chand Tanwar and hails from Fatehpur Village of Chhatarpur in Delhi. He studied till 8th standard in Govt. Boys School Fatehpur, New Delhi in 1973.[1]
Political career[edit]
Tanwar was elected to the 16th Lok Sabha in May 2014. From September 1, 2014, until 2019, he held membership on the Standing Committee on Health and Family Welfare and the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Tanwar served as a Permanent Special Invitee on the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, and Drinking Water and Sanitation, where he contributed to policy discussions and decision-making processes. Throughout his political career, Tanwar has remained committed to addressing issues related to healthcare, rural development, and sanitation, advocating for policies aimed at improving the well-being of the people of India.
In May 2019, Tanwar lost the Lok Sabha elections to Bahujan Samaj Party candidate Kunwar Danish Ali by a margin of nearly 63,000 votes. Tanwar was polled 5,37,834 votes.
