Article assessments help readers and editors determine the quality and relevancy of articles. An article's assessment is determined by an article's class and importance as listed under the {{WikiProject Hypericaceae}} project banner on the article's talk page. These banners must be manually added to articles, however, so help is needed to categorize and sort Hypericaceae-related articles.

When in text format, the banner would look as such:

Quality assessment is generated from the value inputted into the class parameter of the template. Quality denotes what kind of page the article is or how useful it is to the reader. These can range from Featured Articles, Lists, and Media to redirects, categories, and stubs.

The following values are frequently used in the class parameter:

• FA: Featured Articles (adds articles to Category:FA-Class Hypericaceae articles)
• FL: Featured Lists (adds articles to Category:FL-Class Hypericaceae articles)
• GA: Good Articles (adds articles to Category:GA-Class Hypericaceae articles)
• B: B-Class Articles (adds articles to Category:B-Class Hypericaceae articles)
• C: C-Class Articles (adds articles to Category:C-Class Hypericaceae articles)
• Start: Start-Class Articles (adds articles to Category:Start-Class Hypericaceae articles)
• Stub: Stub-Class Articles (adds articles to Category:Stub-Class Hypericaceae articles)
• List: Lists (adds articles to Category:List-Class Hypericaceae articles)
• SL: Start-Lists (adds articles to Category:SL-Class Hypericaceae articles)

The following values are not used for articles, but are used for other types of pages:

Project-specific requirements[edit]

WikiProject Hypericaceae has some project-specific requirements for quality levels to better streamline the categorization of articles by their quality. Feel free to incorporate other guidelines as you feel fit. The current guidelines are:

Stub: Default article quality. Newly-created articles will almost always be stub articles.

• Only a sentence or two of information
• Few references
• Often lack images

Start: One step up from stub. Articles simply don't have much information but are well-polished and have proper referencing will fall into this category.

• To be a start the article must have:
  • A proper speciesbox
  • An associated WikiData identity and proper template
  • A navigational box at the bottom of the articles
  • Be properly categorized as is appropriate
  • A short definition of the appearance of the species that includes at least the:
    • Height of the species and its type (shrub or herb or tree)
    • Description of flowers (color, petals)
  • A short description of the species' distribution
  • At least three properly formatted, reputable references that provide the information in the article
• Start articles should also have, but are not required to have:
  • An image or illustration of the species
  • The habitat of the species
  • A short taxonomy or alternatively an etymology section explaining the name or common name of the species
  • The synonyms of the species listed in the speciesbox
  • Any subspecies listed

• NA (for pages, such as templates or disambiguation pages, where assessment is unnecessary; adds pages to Category:Non-article Hypericaceae pages)
