Welcome to the assessment department! This department assesses the quality and importance of dog-related articles. The article ratings recognize excellent contributions and identifying topics that would benefit from further work. The ratings are recorded through the parameters in the {{WPDOGS}} project banner, which also lists the articles in the appropriate sub-categories of Category:Dogs articles by quality.

- Any member of WikiProject Dogs is free to initially provide or change the rating of an article.
- What if I don't agree with a rating?
- You can list it in the section for assessment requests below and someone will review the rating. Alternately, you can ask any member of the project to rate the article again.
- Are the ratings subjective?
- Yes, they are, but it's the best system we've been able to devise.

Quality scale[edit]
One of the following values must be used for the class= parameter:
Articles that have been quality assessed, reassessed or removed can be found listed under Dogs articles by quality log
Articles for which a valid class is not provided are listed in Category:Unassessed Dogs articles. A class should be assigned according to the quality scale below.

The importance parameter is not used if an article's class is set to NA, and may be omitted in those cases. If the importance parameter is not yet set, or contains an invalid value, the article will be assigned to Category:Unknown-importance Dogs articles.
Any member of WikiProject Dogs is free to initially provide or change the rating of an article. Any member willing to help assess at least some articles during the year is encouraged to join the Assessment Team by adding their name to the list below:
