- Evidence
- connections between user Dreamguy and 71.203.223.65
- October 21, 2007@16:23 - article discussion again, "blind revert accusations"
- October 21, 2007@16:29 - article discussion yet again, referring to 'prior consensus', 'blind reverts', how I need a "crash course" (in editing, I presume), and bizarrely, how the user recalls me and Colin working the article at some point in the past (don't think I was on my watchlist until very recently)
[http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:71.203.223.65&diff=prev&oldid=166586495 here here - less than 15 minutes after the sock posts, defending the sock's acitivities.
- At this point, user 71.203.223.65 went silent. During the first of the edits by this anon user, DreamGuy's account was silent (ie., no edits from August 24th until October 22nd), After DreamGuy's account became active, he frequently posted around the same times as user 71..., in one instance only 10-15 minutes apart (here and here).

- 27, 2007@17:10 - user 71.203.223.65 creates account 82.38.177.222

- the language of the edits of the two users within the same article is precisely the same. two accounts defend the reverts of each other and at least the 71... account displays significantly uncivility.
- User Dreamguy is currently under ArbCom restriction to act more civilly in discussions and tonot create alternate accoutns to post from. the uncivility of the anon 71.. account and the blatant vandalism of the 82... account seem to be the actions of someone seeking to sidestep the ArbCom restrictions via sock-puppeting.
- User Dreamguy_2 appears to have been closed or renamed Dreamguy.
- Comments
Report was filed by User:Arcayne. This user has had extensive friction with DreamGuy, so judge the complaint in that light. See also WP:ANI#Arcayne.
- Dreamguy_2 has never even edited.
- 71.203.223.65 is a Comcast IP, apparently near Knoxville, TN.
Could be DG not logged in, or it could be a Joe job by one of the trolls who likes to pester DG.Seems to be DreamGuy based on editing style and time of edit analysis. I've gotten a second opion from another sysop on this via email. - 82.38.177.222, in the UK, has made just 2 edits to Jack the Ripper, otherwise nothing in common with DreamGuy.
- 68.44.156.72, in New Jersey, hasn't touched the same articles at all. Probably uninvolved.
I have a tool that automates this sort of analysis using publicly available data only. - Jehochman Talk 03:23, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Actually, the only friction I have with Dreamguy is that he might be socking, and is likely violating an Arbcom restriction. I think that the "extensive friction" characterization is both fanciful and pretty, but entirely inaccurate. That Jehochman has been camping on DG's page and actively defending him is matter of neitrality to consider as well. I would prefer to await the results of the regular SSP. pls.
- In addition, the user 68.44.156 is a user who tried to hack my account shortly after I replied at the ArbCom enforcement. I don't expect it to have edits in common. I was looking for deeper connections than perhaps jehochman's tools can provide. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Arcayne (talk • contribs) 06:08, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Talk:Jack the Ripper#The The 'Canonical Five' gives a brief insight to the commonality of these two accounts. additionally this edit isnt vandalism its removing "Ripperologists" link something I saw frequently in DreamGuys edits. There also this by the IP and this by DreamGuy notice the similarities in edit summaries. as posted by me at WP:AN/I#DreamGuy_blocked Gnangarra 14:54, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Conclusions
Upon full investigation, this seems to be a clear case of abusive sockpuppetry. See further details at this thread. I am blocking DreamGuy and will ask ArbCom for guidance. - Jehochman Talk 13:36, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- I have blocked 71.203.223.65 as this one is clearly the same person. Gnangarra 14:50, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- I'd like to see more input, esp from arbcom, before closing this. — Rlevse • Talk • 14:48, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Agree. - Jehochman Talk 17:30, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- I have no idea why Jehochman (still) refuses to tell us what he felt was abusive. El_C 18:03, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- I thought the diffs indicated the abusive (uncivil, edit-warring, multiple accounts that collectively violated 3RR) were kinda clear. I've assembled all of the pertinent info and Diffs here. Was that what you were seeking, El C? - Arcayne (cast a spell) 21:08, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

- RFCU has been declined, and DreamGuy has been unblocked. I'm not sure leaving this open is going to lead to anything, but I'll let someone else decide whether to close this. --Akhilleus (talk) 04:51, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Closing because nothing concrete came out of RFCU, the arbcom enforcement request was handled and closed, Dreamguy_2 has not contribs nor deleted contribs, Dreamguy was blocked and unblocked and the IPs can't be long blocked without further evidence. — Rlevse • Talk • 20:14, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
