A Cool Editor[edit]

It would assist the undoing of vandalism I take part in, by monitoring Special:NewPages and Special:RecentChanges instead of locating the correct vandal, then having to undo, then having to save the page. See [1] for my numerous anti-vandal contributions
Not done As I mentioned when you last applied, you have less than 50 edits to article space. You will need many more edits for us to be able to judge your editing to see if you can be given this tool. -Djsasso (talk) 15:58, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SuperHamster[edit]

I've recently gotten into reverting vandalism, and several times I've stumbled upon vandals with multiple edits in a row, and the Rollback feature would really be helpful in these scenarios. Thanks. SuperHamster (talk) 01:31, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Not done You have less than 100 edits to articles so there isn't many edits to judge if we should give you the tool yet. I would keep using the undo method ot going to the history and clicking on the last good edit and editing to that version for now with clear edit summaries and then come back in a bit and we can take a look. -Djsasso (talk) 01:34, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, thanks though. :) SuperHamster (talk) 01:41, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I request rollback so that I am able to revert vandalism quickly without having to use the edit summary and pressing the undo button.
Not done Your reversions look great, but you've only been editing for a few hours. Contact me on my talk page in two days to a week and I'll re-evaluate you then. Thanks, and keep up the great anti-vandalism efforts! Acalamari 18:42, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Megaman en m[edit]

I find it very annoying when I have to undo 10 edits of vandalism after each other. I would appreciate if I can get these privileges. --Megaman en m (talk) 21:58, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Not done Sorry, but reviewing your last few reverts I found too much concerning ones: [2], [3], [4] and [5]. These edits clearly indicate a high risk that you would misuse the rollback feature. —αἰτίας discussion 22:23, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The first edit I was trying to undo two edits after a row (It didn't have a source). The second edit I was undoing two vandalism edits in a row. So when I undid the first time it looks like I vandalised which actually was the vandalisers' first edit. The third edit was because it says it right so in the wikipedia rules about games articles that you can't name prices (because these might differ from place to place). The fourth edit was because it wasn't relevant and had nothing to do with the article. I NEVER vandalised a page in the four months I was here.--Megaman en m (talk) 08:42, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Can anyone response to this?--Megaman en m (talk) 15:51, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Baby G.[edit]

There has been some vandalism lately on the Jazmine Sullivan article. I have been undoing it a lot. However, I read that Rollback can revert quicker than a simple undo, and can revert more than one edit at once. Therefore, I think Rollback would be useful to me. If my request is denied, I'll be able to understand completely, but I'd really appreciate if I could get Rollback privileges. --Baby G. (talk to me) 20:28, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Not done I'm sorry, but with just 22 edits I don't have enough to go on. Suggest use of WP:UNDO for the while. Again, apologies but we do need to see some experience before granting a relatively powerful tool that can cause upset if used incorrectly. Not a personal comment just that we need a bit more "evidence" as it were. Pedro :  Chat  20:34, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It would be a useful tool in fighting vandalism.

Hi. I would like to request Rollback permissions for use in my role as a "random page patroller" as it would allow me to undo vandalism more quickly and therefore have more time to patrol more pages in the small amount of time I have to do that. Thanks for your consideration and I look forward to hearing from you. 45Factoid44 (talk) 22:13, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not done I'm sorry but you seem to have virtually no experience with WP:UNDO or just plain reverting. I could only find one reversion in your contribution history. Please feel free to reapply soon with some experience in vandal handling. Pedro :  Chat  22:16, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
So new users are precluded from the privilege even if they have good intentions in how they plan to use it? Part of the reason I don't have a massive revert history is because I used to be an IP editor so the majority of my history is not visible, I use self-restraint in reverting, and I have been largely unequipped to do any serious vandal handling since signing up. Please reconsider. 45Factoid44 (talk) 22:20, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GhostStalker[edit]

I'm a frequent editor to anime articles, and as such, there is often a lot of OR and vandalism to revert, especially in articles concerning popular series. I've been here for quite a while, and I do believe that I'm an editor in good standing. I might not have the amount of edits that some people who have been here a comparable amount of time have, but I guess that's because I usually restrict myself to editing a smaller umbrella of articles. I believe a majority of my edits have been reverting vandalism, usually with some sort of non-inflammatory remark made concerning that vandalism. Although I would miss coming up with these remarks, I think the Rollback feature would help me in doing the reverting that I seem to be doing more and more of. Thanks. --GhostStalker(Got a present for ya! | Mission Log) 04:37, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • Why would you be using rollback on edits which you consider to be original research? Non-administrator rollback is for vandalism only, not original research. Daniel (talk) 05:04, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Huh, guess I misunderstood then. I'll only use it for vandalism then. For OR, I guess I'll just revert the old fashioned way with my usual remarks, then. --GhostStalker(Got a present for ya! | Mission Log) 05:41, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

October 11[edit]

Suigetsu[edit]

I edit anime-based articles that see frequent vandalism that I tend to revert. Since these anonymous kids usually edit in multiple sittings (i.e. edit once, then decide they'll edit another character's section, and repeat), there's more edits than can be fixed with a single revert; having rollback would make this immensely easier. Since I can see this coming, this edit summary was made before I discovered that rollback wasn't supposed to be used for OR, but now that I've learned otherwise I only plan on using it to fight vandalism. I was previously denied rollback for being an asshole and failing to discern between good and bad faith edits, but since then I believe I've sufficiently worked on that.
Not done Not a whole lot has changed since your last request, and this edit (though you stated you are now aware rollback is not used for that purpose) just reinforces that fact you are not yet ready to have rollback. Tiptoety talk 01:08, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. Relatively few edits, recent repeated replacement of the {{prod}} template - despite the template itself stating that anyone can remove the template indicates that you may not understand how to identify vandalism/edits that should be reverted.  Not done Sorry, but your contributions provide evidence that you don't know the difference between vandalism and good faith edits. I would like rollback permission because when a vandal makes multiple edits it takes a while to go in and revert each one of them. Rollbacking will fix this. I have reverted quite a bit of vandalism (and I even know someone in real life who has vandalized Wikipedia]], and it would make my job a lot easier if I could just rollback vandalism. Also, rollback permission is required for use of Huggle, an anti-vandalism tool that I can use to go out and fight vandalism to help improve Wikipedia. Notice to all vandals - cut it out! Can't you see we're trying to make an encyclopedia here! Nat682 (talk)

Candlewicke[edit]

I would like to be granted rollbacker rights as quite frankly I find it irritating when I see edits such as this that, although seeming to be of assistance, actually serve to make a section less encyclopedic than it was. It is of course not necessary that I should receive such rights other than for the sake of convenience, but it would be welcome all the same. I am not hopefully considered a dangerous editor, have not been involved in blocking/vandalism etc and am generally just trying to improve with my edits. I have been involved for some years and perhaps some early edits may come back to haunt me but I could say I was just a beginner at that stage. Thanks.
Not done Edits such as the one you provided above should not be reverted using rollback, as they are not clear cased of vandalism but more of a content dispute. Please try reverting some clear cases of vandalism using Twinkle or the undo button and trying again later. Tiptoety talk 05:31, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I used to use VandalProof, but that program is no longer functional on my computer, so I would like to switch over to use Huggle.
Not done I am seeing quite a few "undos" or reverts that appear to not be vandalism, such as [6] and [7]. Maybe try doing some recent change patrol work, then come back in a month and re-request rollback. Tiptoety talk 05:33, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually if you look closer at such rollbacks, they are more subtle vandalism that deal with NPOV. The first example you posted was an attempt at slander by the editor (editor was warned), the second revert was again an issue of NPOV (again, editor was warned). Don't just look at the rollbacks, look at whenever or not I have tied the rollback with a warning. ThePointblank (talk) 06:12, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. I only see two or three instances where the edit summary suggests vandalism has been reverted in the past month. Additionally, the user's statement suggested he would use rollback on contentious articles which suggests that he may misunderstand the purpose of rollback, which is only to be used on blatant vandalism, especially in light of recent edits at Adolf Hitler. --Philosopher Let us reason together. 21:16, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
