Women in the Arts Meetup & Edit-a-thon

In honor of Women's History Month, the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian American Art Museum, and National Museum of Women in the Arts are teaming up to organize a workshop and edit-a-thon focused on improving Wikipedia entries related to notable women artists and art world figures. Activities will include new editor orientation and training, and a behind-the-scenes presentation from the Archives of American Art staff. Coffee and lunch generously provided courtesy of Wikimedia DC.

• To encourage inexperienced editors (especially women) and show them how they can contribute to Wikipedia
• To improve a selection of Wikipedia articles related to female artists, critics, dealers, and other women in the visual arts

• What should I bring?

• Laptop & photo ID. The Archives has a limited number of computer work stations you may utilize during the edit-a-thon, but they are not located in the main conference room.

• How do I RSVP?

• Add your name to the list below, or email snyders (@) si.edu. Space is limited to 20 non-staff participants, so if you something changes and you can't make it, please remove your name from the list so that we can give the spot to someone from the waitlist.

• Can I take photographs?

• You're welcome to bring your own camera, and staff will go over photography policies at the beginning of the event.

Volunteers should feel free to add the names of notable women in the arts who need a better Wikipedia presence, especially ones whose articles could be improved by the inclusion of research resources from the Smithsonian or National Museum of Women in the Arts. Attendees

Due to space constraints, attendance is limited to 20 non-staff attendees and 20 staff attendees. While you do not have to be a woman in order to attend, the event will be focused on encouraging female editors and working on articles related to women in the visual arts. RSVPs beyond the first 20 names in each category should consider themselves to be on the waitlist. Waitlisted individuals will be contacted in the event that a space opens up.
