If I had an email, I would simply use my old account and ask for a merge. I know a merge is too much too ask without access to both accounts, but I was told by someone of experience that I could ask for an usurpation, which is not as much asking as a merge. I am still hoping that an usurpation will be possible, but there might be some legal or other kind of issues that I am missing. I had an email attached to it, the same email as for my current account and I removed it and a bit after I changed the password, but did not write it down. So, I could not get back to my account the next time I tried to login and had no email to recover it.   • Hi Mstarkrn72 / NurseMomica. I'll have a look at your request in a second. I'm sorry to hear that you found the process confusing, so I hope I can clarify some points.
    • This page is for requesting account usurpations. What this means is this:
      • User A wants to change their username to User B. However, there is already an account with the name User B.
      • In order for User A to change their username to User B, User B needs to be renamed in order to move it out of the way.
      • User A will then need to ask for an usurpation of User B. What this means is that User B will be renamed to something else, such as User C, and then User A can be renamed to User B.
      • Because we are essentially taking User B's username away from them, we have some rules in place. In general, User B needs to be 1) inactive; 2) have made no significant edits to Wikipedia or any other Wikimedia project; and 3) User A needs to be an established user. We must also try to contact User B and give them at least a week to respond.
    • In your request, you mentioned that both accounts, "Mstarkrn72" and "NurseMomica", are both registered to the same email address, meaning that you have access to both accounts. Because you control both "Mstarkrn72" and "NurseMomica", we do not need to ask "NurseMomica" whether or not we can take their username, since you are in control of "NurseMomica" and are requesting the change.
    • In order for us to prove that you are in control of "NurseMomica", we need to ask you to log in to the "NurseMomica" account, and then make an edit confirming that it is indeed your account. In your case, this is how the process would work:
      1. Log in to the "NurseMomica" account.

  • Reason: I am (fairly confident) I created the "Theblueness" account forever ago, without an email, and have since forgotten the password and it's thus unrecoverable. I use "TheBlueness" as my username for my online presence most everywhere, and now that I'm trying to edit Wikipedia, I would like to have the name here as well. I can't create an account as "TheBlueness," as the previously created account "Theblueness" is too similar. No one has ever used the account since its creation a decade ago, and I'd be happy to provide proof of my use of the name "TheBlueness" on other sites if that's appropriate. Thank you!
