Reason: I like to register on websites with my real name (for example, my twitter username is davidjones). However, my real name is very well-used and it has often gone. I tend to choose dcjones99 as a default when DavidJones is not available. Having started using the English Wikipedia and Wikipedia Commons, I have since realised that it is possible to change and/or usurp a username. I have also asked for my username to be changed on [commons.wikipedia.org] and then intend to merge the two into one unified login again. DavidJones hasn't been reserved as a unified login, and I believe it is available to be usurped on the English Wikipedia because that account hasn't made any edits.

Proxima Centauri 2 → Proxima Centauri[edit]

It was suggested that I put my request here though I'm trying to get an unused username. When I joined I couldn't become just Proxima Centauri because that was too similar to Proxima centauri with a small c.

When I joined with this username I tried first to start an account as User:Proxima Centauri which is my username on many other wikis including Wiktionary and Wikiversity. The computer wouldn't accept that username as there was already a User:Proxima centauri with a small c. Proxima centauri had registered but hadn't edited at all. I see now that the unused account has been deleted so there is no reason why I shouldn't be simply Proxima Centauri with a capital C. I created the Proxima Centauri userpage and redirected to my page so if you agree to change my name that page needs to be deleted before moving my userpage to User:Proxima Centauri.
