Information icon Hello, I'm RegistryKey. I noticed that you recently removed content from Dash without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Reply on RegistryKey's talk page[edit]

Hallo there — my recent edit on Dash was a mistake — I must've removed much of the content by accident. I hope it won't happen again! JackintheBox (talk) 09:42, 28 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I notice that you (and Cluebot) reverted a couple of edits by an IP user on this article that I think were probably justified. Per WP:NOTDIRECTORY, it seems like the old festival schedules really shouldn't be kept around; the individual year schedules don't seem to vary much, and noting that, for instance, the "Holy Flag hoisting" took place 30 minutes later in 2016 than in 2015 doesn't seem particularly notable. As I noted on the talk page, if there are no objections I am planning to remove much of this stuff from the article. Thanks, PohranicniStraze (talk) 19:15, 1 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@PohranicniStraze: Hi! As the article is about an annual festival, I think you have a point. The old schedules can be removed if you believe it is redundant and no longer needed. —JackintheBox (talk) 19:25, 1 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop behaving like a welcome bot[edit]

Wikipedia deliberately does not have an automatic welcome when an account is created. Dozens if not hundreds of accounts are created every day that never make a single edit. Mass-welcoming them is a waste of time and resources that could be spent doing things that actually improve the encyclopedia. The community has rejected the idea of automatic welcomes. Beeblebrox (talk) 01:16, 3 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Beeblebrox: Alright. I thought it would be a good idea to welcome all accounts created on the English Wikipedia (not automatically created, as they might have come from other Wikipedias) to encourage them to make useful contributions and discourage vandalism by providing some useful links. Next time I will just welcome new users who have already made some edits, according to the nature of their edits. —JackintheBoxTALK 04:26, 3 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

About the recent removal[edit]

I removed that information because of recent political discussions about ageism and I spoke with the person about their page because he doesn't want to be discriminated against. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LouisGiordano (talk • contribs) 01:13, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@LouisGiordano: I personally don't believe that including a person's birth date constitutes ageism, but anyway, thanks for the explanation. —JackintheBoxTALK 01:16, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

How should I fight vandalism in my user page?[edit]

On one hand, I want to allow IP users who made good-faith mistakes to ask me questions and tell me when I make mistakes; but on the other hand, one user had created many alts and continues to vandalize my page, telling me to die, accusing me to be a black person as if that's a bad thing, calling me a kid. And it takes hours for these alts to get blocked. XYZt (talk) 06:11, 7 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@XYZtSpace: Yes, I am quite irritated by these people who seem to have nothing better to do than vandalise Wikipedia and make threats to users. I have added your talk page to my watchlist so if I find further disruptive edits in the future I may revert them and warn or report the vandals if necessary. The reality is that if you want to fight vandalism on Wikipedia you have to expect your own pages to be vandalised (my own talk page has been vandalised 12 times to date).
If you have any more questions feel free to leave a message on my talk page or (recommended) you could ask the question at the Wikipedia:Help desk or add the {{help me}} template on your talk page and ask your question below that template. Regards, JACKINTHEBOXTALK 06:23, 7 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

MP Official Photo Enquiry[edit]

Hi Jackinthebox,

I'm hoping you might help, I added the previous photo to Sir Peter Bottomley MP's office as this is his office's official portrait. Firstly, I was unable to format it correctly so unfortunately it did not appear correctly. However, I believe the current image is not the official portrait of the MP, but rather a photo series produced for Parliament. Sir Peter would prefer his office's official portrait be used, and if you can help me to format that correctly, I'd be incredibly grateful!

Hi, I'm Edaham. JackintheBox, thanks for creating List of countries by grape production!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. There seemed to be a typo - in the list title the word Garlic appears to have been substituted for grape. A bit more info at the top might be helpful, perhaps some general info on what kind of grapes are produced by each region. Are they wine grapes, other? Have a think about it. Hi JackintheBox. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. RE: Edit to Far-left politics in the United Kingdom[edit]

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Far-left%20politics%20in%20the%20United%20Kingdom&diff=869942509

Hello,

Responding as per your message re. the above edit. I did explain this edit as follows: "duplicates info already in the attached Template:UK far left." Just to add: this is a very long and completely unnecessary list of wikilinks to which adds nothing to the main article given that the exact same links are in the attached template, and arguably detracts from the article by making it unwieldy and less readable. It would make the article more user-friendly to remove the list.

Thanks for welcoming me. So I was intrigued at how my edits violated anything. I read the rules many times, but my goal was that synopsises for any of the LNs beyond the 3 which were released, only exist in Japanese on Japanese sites. Since I've read up to a certain point, I intended to provide short synopsises so those interested can get a feel for what happens, as again, its hard to find info so I wanted at least short synopsises available. However, Wikipedia articles shouldn't be too cluttered and since there was an Episode list for the anime, I intended to create an LN list article so this page would not be too full (it probably appeared I was removing a bunch of info but that was to move it to the list article). I hope you understand and I'd greatly appreciate it if you could get back to me. Thank you again.ImagineRejector (talk) 16:14, 23 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

1993 Bombay Bombings[edit]

The information which I'd edited is totally correct. I've done a deep research on it. Indian news channels like ABP news provide a bit wrong information. If you don't believe then please read S.Hussain Zaidi's book "Black Friday". He believes that the blasts occurred between 1:28 PM to 3:35 PM not 1:30 PM to 3:40 PM. Moreover BBC says that 800 dead not 257 and I've an objection of 'locations attacked' in article. The blasts of Worli, passport office and century bazaar are the same and two blasts aren't mentioned. V.i.z Hotel Airport centaur and Shiv sena bhavan. The blast of Mandvi masjid hadn't occurred but just created by CM Sharad Pawar to prevent communal hue. The locations attacked are not presented in chronological order. I believe on my and Mr. Zaidi's authentic research.

So please let me edit! Gururaj Wackchaure (talk) 08:04, 26 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Gururaj Wackchaure: Hi, the sources that are cited in the article mentioned that the number of deaths was 257, and that the blasts occurred between 1:30 to 3:40 pm. These statistics had not changed since the article was created in 2004, so please do not change them randomly without an edit summary. If you want to change the numbers to this long-established information, please cite reliable sources to support and verify your changes. Also, please note that Wikipedia articles must not contain original research. Regards, JACKINTHEBOXTALK 12:05, 26 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

1993 Bombay blasts[edit]

Its obviously a reliable source whole India knows a film named black Friday in hindi also has made on it in 2004 and many well known artists have acted in it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gururaj Wackchaure (talk • contribs) 16:58, 27 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A film (and its plot) is not a reliable source to support what happened in an real-life incident. Anyway, above you mentioned a book named 'Black Friday', and now you are talking about a film of that name. If you believe your book is a better source than the current sources in that article, and you have read the Books section on Wikipedia:Citing sources so you know to cite it properly, you could start a discussion on the article talk page on whether to add the source and change the information in the article according to the book, or not. Note: please click 'Add topic' or 'PLEASE CLICK HERE TO ADD A MESSAGE' on the top of the page to add a message on my talk page. Also don't forget to sign your messages with four tildes (~~~~) – this automatically leaves your signature and timestamp.
Also, if you want a word to appear on the next line, add <br> between the words. Or if you want to list something, do it by adding an asterisk before each item. The list will then show up like this:
  • Skinny legend
  • Bald
  • Snatched
  • Reach
  • Queen
  • Fav

Luis Lobo[edit]

Hello Jackinthebox, i added information in the Wikipedia page for Luis Lobo, based on statistics provided by a spanish article from the very same site:

https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tenis_en_Argentina#Mejor_posicionados_en_el_ranking

It was a piece of random trivia, about Luis Lobo achieving the best ranking for a male argentine doubles player in Argentina's history. Since i am taking this information from Wikipedia itself, i didn't know how to make a proper citation. Sources for information about the Holocaust[edit]

I thank you for your comments, I would be happy if you take a look at the Celldömölk article and tell me if the sources I brought are good enough. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eladkarmel (talk • contribs) 05:54, 22 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Eladkarmel: Hi, the source itself is acceptable. But please be sure that the information you add to a Wikipedia article is supported by the source you give. For instance in the Celldömölk article you wrote "Before World War II, there was a large Jewish community of about 394 Jews". However, the source states "Altogether 394 Celledömölk Jews were deported to the Jánosháza ghetto", which is something quite different from what you wrote. Also, you said "The community was annihilated by the Nazis in the Holocaust". However the source states "After the war a mixed community of neological and orthodox Jews was founded, counting 81 people." This shows that the Jewish community was not annihilated (that would mean all of the Jews were killed). Regards, JACKINTHEBOXTALK 06:03, 22 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Also, please remember to sign your talk page messages with four tildes (~~~~)! Regards JACKINTHEBOXTALK 06:05, 22 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Eladkarmel: Hi, please take note of this edit I made to your citations. The cite web template is used to properly format sources from the web. It's really easy – usually you would include the web link (URL), website name, title of the page, date the page was published (if you can find one), and the date on which you accessed it. Cumulative. I don't know which edit triggered it. I've run across your edits for a long time; IMO, editors deserve recognition, and this is my personal way (I created that template) of doing it.
In my estimation, editor retention is one of the most critical issues facing Wikipedia. We do not give out rewards as often as we should. Barnstars and thank yous are eschewed, when they cost no one anything. Editing and awards is not a zero sum game. We seem to gravitate toward warnings and punishment, when psychologists (e.g., B.F. Skinner) have proved that positive reinforcement is one of the most effective behavioral management tools. If we want to retain editors, we should give them strokes, not pokes. 7&6=thirteen () 15:25, 28 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ali bin Fetais al Marri[edit]

Please make the changes in the page of Ali bin fetais al marri, as the information in the page is libellous. IF you will not let make the changes or make the public aware the contents are disputed, we shall hold Wikipedia responsible to making defamatory comments, remarks and statements. — Preceding unsigned comment added by IAACA4 (talk • contribs) 10:29, 7 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ali bin Fetais al Marri[edit]

am not sure how to go about corresponding with Wikipedia. My complaint is with the Page on Dr Ali Al Marri.

This page is poorly researched with a number of flaws and information that is libellous and also rather damaging to a young girl. For example its says Dr Ali maybe the father of the child of R Dati, however on a simple check you will note the french court never names the father but says business Tycoon.ex-ministers-paternity-case-finally-put-to-bed; https://www.thelocal.fr/20141008/ex-ministers-paternity-case-finally-put-to-bed.

Other matters including alleged family members being members of Al-Qaeda, yet no evidence, or how these people are related? gives the wrong impression.

Reference either do not exist or are in french or simple not available to the public.

I do not wish to issue proceedings against Wikipedia, but wish to come to an understanding which allows the changes to be made on this page.

Many thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by IAACA4 (talk • contribs) 10:35, 7 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@IAACA4: I agree that content in the article that are not supported by sources and are potentially libellous should be removed from the page. About the recent removal[edit]

Hello JackintheBox, I wanted to clarify about my recent contribution, this edit to Educational entertainment, which might have appeared as vandalism. I intended to replace the word "rocket" with "types", and by mistake I typed in "tyeps", I'm sorry for that.

Ambuj Shukla 15:37, 28 March 2019 (UTC)

@Ambujshukla2004: Hi Ambul, thanks for the explanation! I see that the word 'rocket' was vandalistically introduced by IP 46.23.46.36 in this edit that was made on 25 January. Interesting how you were the first to notice and change it after the vandalism being there for over two months! Regards, JACKINTHEBOXTALK 15:45, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Ambujshukla2004: By the way, when you add messages to talk pages, be sure to sign them with four tildes (~~~~). This automatically adds your username and a timestamp to show when it was written. Hi JackintheBox! Thanks for reporting this user to AIV. I technically shouldn't have blocked it, however... this is because the user's edits were last made back in 2013. However, given that it's a clear sock user (they admitted it in an edit summary) and being disruptive, I'm not going to worry about it too much. :-) Just keep this in mind when looking at an editor's contributions; we typically don't block accounts or IP users if their last edits are old and the user is obviously stale. No big deal, though. Just figured I'd let you know. :-) Cheers - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 06:18, 11 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Oshwah: Noted (but I've always thought better late than never!) JACKINTHEBOXTALK 07:48, 11 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I sometimes think "better late than never" as well. It just depends on the situation and the disruption. If it's a case of normal vandalism or promotional edits that happened months ago and then the user stopped editing after that, then obviously there'd be no point in blocking now... in cases of sock puppet users and highly abusive LTA accounts, I have no problem with blocking those any time they pop up. I have no "statue of limitation" when it comes to LTA abuse and their accounts... lol ;-) You're still totally fine with reporting every instance you see; you've done nothing wrong at all and I thank you for all of your time and diligence. Just don't be surprised if an admin declines blocking due to the account or user being stale is all. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 07:55, 11 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

United States Park Police[edit]

I’m confused. Not constructive ? I am editing incorrect information and adding correct info from an official government website which I cited at the bottom of the paragraph. The entire page looks horrible. I’m going to revert my edits and continue to add more edits with links from the official National Park Service Website. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2607:FB90:64EA:D696:2049:7450:1F37:2A5A (talk) 10:15, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You just copied and pasted the whole page on to the Wikipedia article. JACKINTHEBOXTALK 10:18, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Changes to article "Max Price"[edit]

I have undone the changes you made. I tried to explain them briefly in the summary but will do so in more detail.

The original order of listing of the children was opposite to their birth order. It does not make sense to cite a source for correcting that.

There are 2 reference which have been removed. The first URL has changed and now references the CV of someone else - the new incumbent of the position that Max Price vacated in 2018. So it is not possible to provide a reference or citation for an incorrect out of date citation. I have however, added a new citation to a URL/Pdf on teh institution's website that gives the correct CV.

The second reference claimed to be a support for a position stated in teh text that Max Price has withheld information about admissions, maintaining white dominance and white interests. If you follow the link, the news article says no such thing.

I have deleted this paragraph because it is libellous and I am raising it with the Wikipedia authorites to have it removed from the history. I have written a fuller article to supplement the current stub but since I am teh subject of the article, I wish to submit it in teh proper way to external editors and not post it myself. CritthinkCT (talk) 11:17, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@CritthinkCT: Thanks for the explanations. I see that you are indeed correct for both of the two references you removed. Regards, JACKINTHEBOXTALK 12:30, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@CritthinkCT: However, please be sure not to spell 'the' as 'teh', as you did four times above. JACKINTHEBOXTALK 12:31, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@CritthinkCT: It would be nice if you could find a reliable source to support your addition of his place of birth, that being Johannesburg. Please see Template:Cite web to learn how to cite a web source properly on Wikipedia. JACKINTHEBOXTALK 12:34, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@CritthinkCT: Per WP:AGF, I am going to believe your claim that you are the subject of the article. Could you please tell us where you have written a fuller article, so we could consider adding the content to the Wikipedia article? Thanks, JACKINTHEBOXTALK 12:39, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Reversal of Contributions to DeMolay[edit]

As far as some of your other edits, as your pointed out, they needed source citation (which I just hadn't done yet, honestly) and I agree with your input. As far as my contributions to the DeMolay wiki, I'm not quite sure what to use... what would you suggest? I have first hand knowledge of the specific topic. I myself am a Senior DeMolay, Past Master Councillor for DeMolay, a DeMolay Masonic sponsor, a Founder of several new DeMolay Chapters within my jurisdiction, a Master Mason of 18 years, and a Brother of the advanced Masonic Orders. As either serving or having served as an officer in both organizations, I know unequivocally what the rules and processes are, but how does one cite sources for an organization that even describes itself as a "societal of secrets", that is not inclined to put out literature for general consumption, and in which so much of its composition is tradition passed down from one Master Mason to another or one Brother the another? Learning how to edit Wikipedia and add an article.[edit]

Hello, JackInTheBox

So I want to know how can I edit and add an source, because I'm learning that stuff I don't know, because I didn't use that keys before. We are the Great (talk) 14:26, 17 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@We are the Great: Hi, please you Template:Reply to to reply to other users, e.g. you would use {{ping|JackintheBox}} to reply to me. Double square brackets ([[]]) do not work as they are used to link to a Wikipedia page. Also, this template is case-sensitive, so you must type 'JackintheBox' (my username) instead of 'JackInTheBox'. This template does not need to be used if you are leaving a message on my own talk page, as I get a notification whenever someone edits my talk page.
To add a source to an article from the web, please see Template:Cite web – it shows you how to properly add an inline citation. Usually you would need to include the URL of the source, name of the website, title of the page/article, date on which the page/article was published, and date on which you accessed it. Here is an example: to cite this source https://www.thelocal.de/20190315/man-tries-to-smuggle-tortoises-disguised-as-desserts-through-berlin-airport<ref>{{Cite web|url=https://www.thelocal.de/20190315/man-tries-to-smuggle-tortoises-disguised-as-desserts-through-berlin-airport|website=The Local Germany|title=Man tries to smuggle tortoises disguised as desserts through Berlin airport|date=15 March 2019|access-date=18 April 2019}}</ref>
For the above example, title means the title of the news article, and date means the publshing date of the article. JACKINTHEBOXTALK 05:00, 18 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@We are the Great: Your draft Band Vaaje needs WP:Inline citations (currently it has none); if you want the draft to be moved to article namespace, you must prove that it meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines. JACKINTHEBOXTALK 05:04, 18 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Walewijn van der Veen[edit]

I am new to Wikipedia and have been trying to create a new topic from this site:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nieuwendijk,_Amsterdam

I have added Walewijn van der Veen as a resident of Nieuwendijk and would like to write briefly about him. If I click on his name, I would like to add info. Can anyone help explain how to do this?

Thanks!

Gabby 12:22, 21 April 2019 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vedlagt (talk • contribs)

@Vedlagt: Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia! First of all, please see Wikipedia:Write the article first – it states that Wikipedia editors should write a new article before they create links to that article in list pages, disambiguation pages, or templates in the encyclopedia. So wikilinks to an article should only be added after that article has been created.
At Wikipedia:Articles for creation, it says 'Only experienced editors should ever create an article from scratch. Others should first create a draft page and build the article there.' Read that page and go to Wikipedia:Article wizard – it will guide you through creating your draft for Walewijn van der Veen.
Please note that if you want your draft to be accepted and moved to the article namespace, you will have to add reliable sources for verifiability, and prove that it meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines. Use the Template:Cite web to properly cite sources from the web, such as online articles. If this subject you intend to write about is just a friend of yours etc. and not notable enough for an encyclopædia, then I suggest you not to create this draft!
Also, please remember to sign your messages with four tildes (~~~~) – this is automically converted to your signature and a timestamp showing when you posted your message. When adding a new message on a talk page, you should click on Add topic near the top of your screen (or for my talk page, click on the large box at the top of the page that reads PLEASE CLICK HERE TO ADD A NEW MESSAGE) and give your message a title under Subject. Regards, and happy editing! JACKINTHEBOXTALK 12:41, 21 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Should all instances of 'tbd' in this article be changed to 'TBD'?[edit]

You posted your question about tbd vs. TBD on my talk page, but I'm not sure you wanted to do that, or if you did I don't know why. In any event I went ahead and made the change, also in the "Carriers under construction or being fitted out" section.

I notice you're interested in music from the past. If so, you might want to look at my Music Trivia Game page on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/musictriviagame/), and perhaps like and follow it. @Roy McCoy: Thanks for making the change. I tried to make the same change in June last year but was reverted twice, so am less willing to make the change now readily. Regarding the two IPs who made those frivolous edits above, User:2600:1702:a0:8f70:f117:141c:290f:74da and User:2600:1702:a0:8f70:68b7:6a14:c0c1:de66, they are not me. Geolocation shows that they are from the US, while I live in China (and have never been to the US). They have a similar IP to User:2600:1702:a0:8f70:8dd4:f1df:8591:8b26 who made this similar edit to my talk page two days ago, after I reverted and warned him for an unconstructive edit. The IP was then blocked, but then I left this message on their talk page. JACKINTHEBOXTALK 00:26, 22 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@JackintheBox: Thanks. How did you get the IPs blocked (assuming this was at your instigation)?

@Roy McCoy: No, the IP was not reported to AIV but User:Materialscientist blocked it for 31 hours on 20 April, but a few hours ago 2600:1702:a0:8f70::/64 was rangeblocked for two weeks, due to this edit. JACKINTHEBOXTALK 02:33, 22 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Roy McCoy: Your Music Trivia quiz looks fun (better than I thought, as I have never taken a Music Trivia quiz before, and am terrible and music trivia). I think I would be able to answer very few of these questions, as I'm not very knowledgeable in classical music (although I play the piano), and I mostly listen to music from the 1930s to 1950s. JACKINTHEBOXTALK 02:38, 22 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Roy McCoy: 'Garfunkel' is spelt wrong in Question 416. I have never used Facebook, and I wonder if it's possible to correct that typo JACKINTHEBOXTALK 02:39, 22 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for all this. What got Materialscientist involved, and what privilege did he (or she – I'll assume for simplicity he was male) have in order to be able to block an address (if you know)? Music Trivia Game is indeed best for people of my age and cultural background. I corrected to "Garfunkel" – that error may have been on the original card, as they sometimes contain errors. – Roy McCoy (talk) 02:53, 22 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

He's an admin, and has the ability to block IPs/users. He must have seen those edits while patrolling recent changes. He is a recent changes patroller, just like I am. I thought you would have known all this by now, as you have been on Wikipedia for nearly 10 years! JACKINTHEBOXTALK 03:05, 22 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, I love listening to big band and swing music. Popular artists include Vera Lynn, Arthur Askey, Gracie Fields, Al Bowlly, Ray Noble, Geraldo and His Orchestra, Joe Loss and His Orchestra, and Ambrose and His Orchestra, among others. JACKINTHEBOXTALK 03:10, 22 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@JackintheBox: Thanks for your last comments. I replied to them but the reply doesn't appear, so I guess I didn't publish it. I didn't say much other than that I supposed the artists you listed were mostly British since I'd never heard of any of them. What I'm writing about now, however, is the strange more recent edit you reverted. I received a notification of a change on your page and went to it, and I may have gone into it to edit it for some reason and maybe I accidentally deleted something. But I have absolutely no idea how I could have made two accidental deletions, as appears to have occurred. Something else very strange happened last night, when an intentional edit of mine elsewhere mysteriously disappeared in a weird way and I had to do it over again. I hope nobody's messing with me, but you never know these days. –Roy McCoy (talk) 15:26, 25 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Roy McCoy: Understood. I also listen to many pieces by American and German (e.g. Rudi Schuricke) artists. Just so you know, the 'ping' is not needed when replying to someone on their own talk page, as they get a notification whenever someone edits their talk page. Thanks JACKINTHEBOXTALK 09:09, 28 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. The falsely attributed edits have now been explained by gnu57 at the Teahouse. I apparently published changes on the two pages concerned after other changes had been made while I had the page open, and this wiped out their changes. The recommended way to deal with this is to hit "Show changes" before publishing and then copying and redoing your edit if necessary to retain the other changes. –Roy McCoy (talk) 16:41, 29 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Roy McCoy: Interesting. On my laptop I would have got an 'edit conflict' if I tried to publish changes on a page when other changes have been made. Also, if you hadn't known already, to indent a message (to reply to a message above), you would add a colon (:) before your message. See Wikipedia:Indentation. When a message becomes too far indented, you can also Template:Outdent. Regards JACKINTHEBOXTALK 02:32, 30 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

(1) gnu57 mentioned "edit conflict" as follows: "When changes happen in the meantime while you're editing, you're supposed to be taken to an 'edit conflict' screen where you can merge the other person's changes in with yours: but there's no warning when you and the other person are working on different sections of the article. What I do (especially on busy pages) is hit 'show changes' and check whether my edit would undo other people's work; if so, I copy my additions, hit 'cancel' to get to the up-to-date version of the page, and then reopen the edit window, paste them in, and publish." In any event I suppose I can avoid future problems by using "Show changes".
(2) I've been adding a colon or multiple colons to indent, but I'm not adding additional indentation here since this seems to be more a continuing conversation than a series of messages and replies to be nested. Thanks. –Roy McCoy (talk) 04:27, 30 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Reason for editing[edit]

Hello, I'm Ysharathchandra. Recently I've edited little content on the page "Republic tv" because the sources mentioned for the title "Criticism" are not reliable sources. Also it being a news channel, it's not right to portray it as biased because for some viewers it might not match with their viewpoint. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ysharathchandra (talk • contribs) 18:04, 22 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the explanation. But you shouldn't remove any content from the article unless it is obviously written in a POV manner and not supported by reliable sources, and remove references only if they are unreliable. Look at the professional UK bodies - Association of Optometrists, the College of Optometrists, and the GOC which has always strongly demarcated the line between Optometrists and (dispensing) Opticians.

Can you please get the edit changed for UK Optometrists to read along the lines “in the UK they graduate in Optometry, then complete a pre registration training, professional qualifying exams and subject to passing, register as an Optometrist. Further training can allow them to become a Doctor of Optometry.” (Link to Aston or City University Doctor of Optometry course)

Please change to similar to above, as this is the reality, and has been for the past decade Mjhope77 (talk) 08:52, 29 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Lukan Michi page[edit]

Hello JackINTHEBox,

I'm creating a new page for Lukan Michi, which is an Punjabi movie. Can you help me please? We are the Great (talk) 16:19, 30 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@We are the Great: Hi, At Wikipedia:Articles for creation, it says 'Only experienced editors should ever create an article from scratch. Others should first create a draft page and build the article there.' Read that page and go to Wikipedia:Article wizard – it will guide you through creating your draft for Lukan Michi.
Please note that if you want your draft to be accepted and moved to the article namespace, you will have to add reliable sources for verifiability, and prove that it meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines. Use the Template:Cite web to properly cite sources from the web, such as online articles. JACKINTHEBOXTALK 16:25, 30 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Also, to reply to me on a page other than my talk page, you can use Template:Reply to or {{u|JackintheBox}}. Note that this is case-sensitive. This is not needed if you post on my talk page, because a user always gets a notification whenever someone edits their talk page. JACKINTHEBOXTALK 16:25, 30 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Request to add independent candidate name[edit]

Hi Team,

Independent candidate from Thoothukkudi constituency who completed M.Tech from NIT Calicut and who got a good reach with all youngster from Tamilnadu. Mr.J.SIVANESWARAN contested in Baloon symbol.

Many other independent candidate from other constituency as well other political party leader also using to promote their names along with this candidate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sivaneswaran.J (talk • contribs) 05:4e, 1 May 2019 (UTC)

Hi Sivaneswaran.J, your edit to Thoothukudi (Lok Sabha constituency) broke the article's formatting as you changed the double curly brackets '{{' to single curly brackets '{'. As you are a new editor, I recommend you click 'Show preview' or 'Show changes' at the bottom of your screen before you publish your changes, so you can see what you are doing to the article with your edit. Also, your edit I reverted seems to be self-promotional; please see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. JACKINTHEBOXTALK 05:50, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Request to add by yourself[edit]

We request to add those details by yourself. It should not affect the coding. Sivaneswaran.J (talk) 05:54, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Sivaneswaran.J: See my comment above. Your edit to Thoothukudi (Lok Sabha constituency) was reverted because it broke the article's formatting, because you changed the double curly brackets to single. When you make edits, I suggest clicking 'Show preview' near the bottom of your screen before clicking 'Publish changes', so you can see what the article looks like with your edit. Alma Carroll[edit]

Sorry, I am new to Wikipedia. Alma is a close family friend. She passed today. If we need to wait for an official news organization to pick up the story, that’s fine. When her husband, Bill Lignante, died it was a couple months before anything was published. WhoAmI-GS (talk) 05:00, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, WhoAmI-GS. If that is true, sorry for the loss. However, Wikipedia is built on reliable sources, so content on biographies of living persons or recently deceased persons must be supported by reliable sources, including the date of their death. You may cite an obituary on the article when it gets published. Regards, JACKINTHEBOXTALK 05:04, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Schultz2019, I reverted this edit that you made to Electron microscope because you added the '</ref>' symbol to the start of the article, and I assumed you were testing the <ref></ref> template for citing sources. You might want to click 'Show preview' near the bottom of your screen when you make an edit before actually publishing your changes, so you can see how the article looks like with your edit, without the edit actually getting published. Project Runway[edit]

Hi, how was my edit to Project Runway (season 17) not constructive? I was basically correcting vandalization. Content that I corrected was created by a user who claims to have information about content that has not even aired yet and the user offered no citation as to where they got said information. Additionally, they completely messed up the formatting of the results grid, which they never should have done in the first place.

@Ringo902: Sorry, that revert was a mistake. I have removed my message template from your talk page. Regards, JACKINTHEBOXTALK 14:13, 23 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Why my content removed?[edit]

Ellis Ayitey Komey[edit]

Hi,

I added the details of my father's death and it appears that you have removed them?

I presume that I am doing something wrong here and I would be grateful for your advice and guidance and what I need to do to update my father's entry on Wikipedia.

Any help and assistance would be most welcome. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Charlief1959 (talk • contribs) 19:11, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Charlief1959: Hi Charlie, I reverted your edit because you did not provide a reliable source to verify the content you added. Also, your edit did not have the correct formatting – you added the content after the 'References' section, while that section should always come after the main body of the article. If you could find a source to support that info (such as a web link for an obituary), please feel free to re-add it!
P.S. I found a mention of 'Ellis Ayitey Komey' here: https://www.ancestry.com/search/categories/42/?name=_Komey&name_x=1_1 . This might be your father, and might include details of his father's death, but I can't get access to it as the info is private. JACKINTHEBOXTALK 19:21, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi JackintheBox, thank you for getting back to me so quickly. I do have a copy of his obituary from The Daily Graphic paper (a local paper from Accra). What I will do is make the Komey Family Tree on Ancestry 'Public" so that you can look at all the information and photographs that I have on my father. If this is then acceptable then I will have another go at added the details. Thanks again for your help as this is the first time I have been on Wikipedia and think it is right that the details about my father are correct.

Kind regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by Charlief1959 (talk • contribs) 19:31, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Charlief1959: That would be great. Also it might be helpful if you could somehow send me a copy of the obituary from the Daily Graphic (Ghana) paper (perhaps by email – my address is xu-jia-hao@hotmail.com), as I could try to add it your father's article as a source using Template:Cite newspaper. This would also have to include at least the date of the newspaper. Regards, JACKINTHEBOXTALK 19:48, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi JackintheBox, that is the email sent to you with a copy of the obituary and also a photo of my father. I have also forwarded some other details that I hope can be amended and added to his page.

Thanks again for all your help with this.

Kind Regards

Charlie Charlief1959 (talk) 20:25, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Charlief1959: Hi, I have re-added the details of Ellis Komey death according to Wikipedia's Manual of Style and cite the obituary from the newspaper you sent to me by email. I corrected the 'Flamengo' typo, cited the 'Modern African Stories' book after the relevant sentence so it can be seen under the 'References' section, and also added a mention of 'Messages: Poems from Ghana', plus a relevant source for the book. These are my edits. Also see the article Ellis Ayitey Komey to check if everything is alright. Dear JackintheBox, well I deleted some text because the text was supposed to be in english, but there were Turkish bits intertwined with the English. I asked for help first in the contribution summary of a edit I did before. Then I read on the talk page that similar complaints were made in 2013, so I thought I delete some parts to make it readable again. You now included the Turkish language parts as well plus you deleted the sourced Info I added for the current Mayor elected in March 2019 and the current Kaymakam. I'd be glad for a response from your side. I just tried to make an article sourced and understandable. Thank you, best Paradise Chronicle (talk) 04:39, 10 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks![edit]

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Concerning an informal study[edit]

Hi there. I was conducting an "informal" study on the usage of Portals on Wikipedia, and for that reason, I've come to ask you a few question:

  • How often do you use Portals?
  • Which Portals do you visit (if any)?
  • How useful do you find them?

Apologies for wasting your precious time on Wikipedia. P.S. It's all fine with me if you don't want to answer these questions. Ambuj Shukla (talk) 18:09, 17 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Update on Malaysia States HDI[edit]

To JackInTheBox,

Hello, can you please update the Malaysian states' HDI as of 2019? Thank youm — Preceding unsigned comment added by HanCor (talk • contribs) 13:14, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@HanCor: Hi, there is currently no data for 2019 for the source that is being used on that article. I will however be updating the 2017 HDI data to 2018 data (which exists in the source) soon. I am living in China, and can only access that source (and Wikipedia, and almost any other site I go to) with a VPN. Currently the VPN is really slow and the source is not loading well at all. I will try loading it again soon so that I can see Malaysian data. Then I will add the updated data to the Wikipedia article! Regards, JACKINTHEBOXTALK 13:43, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for editing the Malaysian states HDI list to the year 2018. I was wondering if you can give me the source from where did you got the HDI list from. Thank you. Also, do you know when the 2019 list is going to come out? Thanks! HanCor (talk) 12:52, 26 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I managed to access the source that is already referenced on the article List of Malaysian states by Human Development Index, which is here. I clicked Show all at the bottom of the page but couldn't get it to load, so I clicked Download near the top left hand corner to come to this page, then I downloaded this file which is published in 2020. The latest data for each country is from 2018, so I think 2019 data can be accessed around a year's time. I also added a new map to the article to show 2018 data. Regards, JACKINTHEBOXTALK 13:22, 26 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, your edit to Jackée Harry violated Wikipedia's policy of Neutral point of view, it sounds biased ('nasty things') and also isn't that significant (WP:Notability) for the 'Personal life' section. Regards JACKINTHEBOXTALK 03:50, 15 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Grand Aire Express[edit]

I do not understand why you believe the section I created regarding Safety Concerns and FAA Oversight was not constructive. I understand the fleet section revisions was not very well done, but the safety concerns and FAA oversight are was well sourced and improved the Grand Aire Express article.

JimBob2u (talk) 04:10, 21 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, upon looking back at your edit I reverted, I see that it is a genuine attempt to improve the article, while I previously thought it was maybe a test edit as it involved the removal and addition of many lines. JACKINTHEBOXTALK 01:19, 22 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest that you use the 'Show preview' function at the bottom of your screen after making an edit to see what the page looks like with your edit, instead of making lots of small edits and revert some of them. JACKINTHEBOXTALK 01:22, 22 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the input. I think I see what might have happened. I made numerous small edits instead of using the preview feature and that led to confusion. I will use the preview feature in the future as you suggest. Because there were so many small edits when you made your change it took out the whole section regrading safety and FAA oversight. That entire section is still missing from the article in spite of your latest revision. Because I believe the safety and oversight section was removed in error, I am going to add that section back in. JimBob2u (talk) 16:04, 22 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Understood and regards, JACKINTHEBOXTALK 00:58, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

How to answer a message on my Talk page(talk) 17:03, 16 September 2020 (UTC)[edit]

Hi JackintheBox! 1) How can I answer a message on my Talk page? 2) How can I change back to the original text when an article has been edited?

I am still new to Wikipedia and haven't been here for a while.

I appreciate your help!

(talk) 17:07, 16 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Vedlagt, you can answer someone else's message on your talk page by 'pinging' them, like this: {{ping|Username}}, with the person's username replacing 'Username'. You should always sign your talk page messages with four tildes, like this:~~~~. This would automatically produce your username and a timestamp. @2601:CF:4700:7CD0:8948:BA16:75CF:76B: Hi there! That's an interesting rationale from your school, that students cannot use Wikipedia – because it can be edited. Because that is the reason Wikipedia exists, and has as of now over 6 million articles! Because ordinary people can write about anything they like, provided that it is notable enough for an encyclopædia, and that it is supported and verified by reliable sources. Wikipedia is a great place to get information study-related, but it is true that you shouldn't cite Wikipedia as a source – though you can make use of sources cited within Wikipedia articles. You can find these sources at the bottom of the articles, or by hovering your cursor over the square brackets (such as [1]) in the article. Regards, JACKINTHEBOXTALK 14:10, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Also, as you can see, Wikipedia is efficiently 'moderated' by many users, including bots, that tackle and deter 'disruptive' edits on its articles. JACKINTHEBOXTALK 14:11, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thoughts on Elizabeth Radcliffe's book?[edit]

Here is the write up in the Evening Standard Radcliffe was referring to. I don't really know what to think of it. The source is a WP:NEWSBLOG and I am wary of WP:PROMO and WP:CRYSTALBALL and don't like her wording. That said, I tend to view authors notifying us about their books as a generally positive thing for the encyclopedia so that we don't have to do the research ourselves and as such am leaning towards seeing it included but I don't know about the wording and if you still feel that it is not worthy of inclusion then I would be happy with that. ~ El D. (talk to me) 16:45, 18 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@El komodos drago: Hi, I've replied to Ms Radcliffe on her talk page, saying that I think it would be best if the book were added after it has been published, as doing it now may be construed as promotion of the book. However if others differ I have no problem with it being included now. Also I personally have been a fan of Larry the Cat for several years now, and would love to read this book once it comes out! Map of countries by Human Development Index[edit]

Hello and happy new year! I see that you created File:Countries by Human Development Index (2020).png and I really appreciate it. Could you please recreate the same map but in SVG format? The SVG format has no raster graphics and it is of superior quality. − Allice Hunter (Inbox) 21:16, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Allice Hunter: Ok I will! JACKINTHEBOXTALK 04:19, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Allice Hunter: Hi Allice, I'm interested in what programme you use to create SVG maps (like File:2020 UN Human Development Report.svg)? I've just managed to download a full resolution file of File:BlankMap-World.svg as a PDF file, and then converted it to SVG, but I'm not sure how I can fill in different parts of the map in different colours. JACKINTHEBOXTALK 05:33, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@JackintheBox: I often use Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape. I think that converting a PDF file to SVG will create a fake SVG file, which has raster graphics and a poorer quality than a real one. In my opinion Illustrator is easier to use than Inkscape. However Inkscape is free and Illustrator is not. − Allice Hunter (Inbox) 06:54, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Allice Hunter: Thanks for the info. I've downloaded Inkscape and have just completed filling the countries and territories in the darkest green. It took quite a lot of time figuring out how to use the app, but now I've familiarised myself with it. It's still quite tedious to have to manually click on all the small (visible) islands in order to shade them in the right colour, but at least I've finished with the first colour. Eleven more to go! 😬😂 JACKINTHEBOXTALK 16:44, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
In contrast, using the map on mapchart.net requires me to just click once to fill a whole country/territory in a single colour. I feel like this is much more convenient, although I'm only able to download those maps in PNG format, which gives 'raster graphics'. JACKINTHEBOXTALK 16:47, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. I've provided feedback to the above site at contact@mapchart.net by suggesting they allow us to create a map in the SVG format directly on their site. JACKINTHEBOXTALK 16:52, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, well, I never had to click on each island individually on Inkscape. For me, when clicking on a country, the application also selects all the islands that comprise it, because they are only one object in the SVG file. You probably used another type of selection tool, or downloaded the file in PNG/JPG/JPEG, and in these formats there is no such thing as "object", which makes necessary to color each part of the map individually. − Allice Hunter (Inbox) 20:28, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I just tried map on mapchart.net, it's just magnificent! How good it would be if we could create maps in SVG format directly on the website. − Allice Hunter (Inbox) 07:00, 3 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Allice Hunter: I just figured out how to download the file File:BlankMap-World.svg directly as an SVG file – by clicking 'Save Page As --> Format --> Page Source (previously I incorrectly saved it as a Web Archive). Now I can fill in a whole country in one go using Inkscape by typing the country's two-letter ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code in 'Find/Replace', then clicking 'Find', then typing in the RBGA code of the colour I want to use under 'Fill and Stroke'. However I still haven't figured out how to fill in an entire country/territory with a single click. JACKINTHEBOXTALK 09:53, 3 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Allice Hunter: I've completed the SVG map File:Countries by Human Development Index (2020).svg and added it to List of countries by Human Development Index! JACKINTHEBOXTALK 12:27, 3 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent map, thank you! Well, you don't need to do all this process to download the File:BlankMap-World.svg as an SVG file. Just click 'Open in Media Viewer' -> Download Icon -> Download original file; so the file will be downloaded directly in SVG format. After that, open the downloaded file with Inkscape. You will need to have the selection tool selected and then just click on the countries and choose the colours from the application's color palette, or you can click on fill (in the lower left corner) and put the color code in RGBA. You can also select multiple countries by pressing Shift while clicking, and then use the dropper tool to fill multiple countries with a single click in the colour you want. − Allice Hunter (Inbox) 19:46, 3 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Allice Hunter: Ah I see. And if the colour I want to use isn't found in the palette at the bottom of the screen, I can just enter the RGBA code under 'Fill and Stroke' after selecting a country. Thanks! JACKINTHEBOXTALK 04:19, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Democracy Index[edit]

Great work on the new map for the 2020 report. Just one small thing: Oman now has the score of 3.00 and the lightest authoritarian colour begins at 3.01. So as far as I can tell Oman just narrowly missed the mark and should have a darker colour. -- Darthdyas (talk) 22:00, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Minkend article[edit]

The part i erased was a falsification of history. Armenian people never lived in Minkend village of Lachin district. Inhabitants of the village were azerbaijanis and kurds whose descendants still live in different parts of The Republic of Azerbaijan, mostly in Baku and Aghjabedi district. These facts can be proven with the existence of the kurdish and azerbaijani people's tombs in the village dates back to 19th century. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.135.152.205 (talk) 11:48, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello![edit]

Hi, JackintheBox

Thanks for the reply. I am new to Wiki editing, just tried my first article edit. My talk page is blank! I can only see the beginning of your message. What did you revert exactly? --Italo.cavini (talk) 12:29, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Italo.cavini: Hi Italo, I reverted one of your edits my mistake, and this prompted an automatic message by my account on your talk page. Since it was a mistake, I reverted my reversion of your edit and also deleted that automatic message from your message. I also just left a standard welcome message on your talk page. Hope you find it (at least a *bit*) useful! Regards, JACKINTHEBOXTALK 14:16, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The controversy section references articles that are not accurate and thus, should be removed from this paged. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vhorsle76 (talk • contribs) 23:20, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The user who delete the controversy section on the Valerie Horsley page is clearly Valerie Horsley herself. She is trying to whitewash the controversy section on her own Wikipedia page. The section is credibly sourced and you were correct in restoring it the first time. I have since restored it the second time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 38.81.106.4 (talk) 18:11, 21 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

HDI maps in the future[edit]

Hello JackintheBox! What do you think about using Miller cylindrical projection for our future HDI maps? In my opinion, it is a projection that provides a better view of the Northern Hemisphere. I use File:World map (Miller cylindrical projection, blank).svg as a base map. − Allice Hunter (Inbox) 01:49, 17 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Our World in Data source for map[edit]

Hi. About: File:COVID-19 Outbreak World Map Total Deaths per Capita.svg

Your edit summary for the map update at COVID-19 pandemic by country and territory says "I updated the choropleth map to data as of 18 Oct, using the new source (Our World in Data)"

On the Commons file page it says "COVID-19 Outbreak World Map Total Deaths per Capita from Template:COVID-19 pandemic death rates using code at the talk page of the file on Commons."

On the talk page I see a post I made on June 18, 2021. It has this link:

Is that what you are using now? I am going to write up a reference for the map on COVID-19 pandemic by country and territory. --Timeshifter (talk) 05:51, 19 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Timeshifter: Yes, that is the source I'm using now. I used the values in the table under 'Total cases, deaths, and death rates by country (Our World in Data)' in the article COVID-19 pandemic by country and territory. Thanks, JACKINTHEBOXTALK 10:15, 19 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
There is an expanded version of that scrolling table here:
Template:COVID-19 pandemic death rates by country.
Do you copy the data directly from the deaths per million column in the templates, or do you go all the way back to the csv files such as this one:
https://github.com/owid/covid-19-data/blob/master/public/data/jhu/total_deaths_per_million.csv
The "Raw" link there is the actual csv file.
--Timeshifter (talk) 11:45, 19 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Timeshifter: I copied data directly from that column. JACKINTHEBOXTALK 12:03, 19 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
OK. Thanks. I added a reference to the map caption in the top infobox. I also added "note 1" from the scrolling template section here:
COVID-19 pandemic by country and territory#Total cases, deaths, and death rates by country (Our World in Data)
--Timeshifter (talk) 12:52, 19 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
OK, that's great! JACKINTHEBOXTALK 16:16, 19 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
