Speedy deletion nomination of CG5[edit]

Excuse me, I am creating a redirect page in case one of my songs is used in something famous, they can use that link to the redirect to iTunes Store! CheatCodes4ever (talk) 02:49, 1 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I thought that the repeated deletions by administrators would make it clear, but apparently, that's not the case here. So, let me say this clearly: stop recreating the redirect. Wikipedia does not have redirects just in case your songs are used in something famous. When they get famous, they can have their own article. Until it happens, do not create the redirect again, and do not point it to iTunes Store—it does not make any sense at all. Your actions can be seen as disruptive editing, and disruptive editors may be blocked from editing. Thank you.—J. M. (talk) 03:02, 1 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Bing Bong Christmas has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Zero independent notability. Fails WP:NSONGS.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Do not cite Genius; it is user-generated and therefore not reliable[edit]

Genius is a WP:USERG website. We do not cite websites where users can go on the website and add whatever they like with minimal oversight. It's like citing a fake news blog. We don't do it, so stop adding Genius links to all these articles. They will be removed. Thank you. Ss112 01:20, 23 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, and your claims of "not doing pages anymore" clearly didn't last very long. You asserted that you're semi-retired but two days after this, you attempted to create So Fresh: The Hits of Spring 2016. Ss112 01:22, 23 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

“They can add whatever they like”. And that’s not what Wikipedia is?

You're right, Wikipedia can be edited by anybody. Wikipedia is not a reliable source, and nobody out there should be citing Wikipedia articles for this very fact. They should only be taken as a reference point to do further research. However, this doesn't make websites where anybody can add whatever they like now acceptable because we're on a site that allows that. Wikipedia itself demands better sourcing than sites like itself. See WP:RS. Ss112 10:15, 27 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Problem With That[edit]

I don’t actually go on talk pages. I don’t know why, I’m just not allowed to for some reason. Here’s the problem, I can’t do links to refs because even though I’ve had another box open for me to see how to do it right, it never works. Please tell me what’s going on. CheatCodes4ever (talk) 08:09, 23 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Also, why do you only make pages of people who are famous? There are some people who know them and they might want to look them up.

Hi CheatCodes4ever. If you can edit in articles, and here on your talk page, then you can also edit on the talk pages of articles. Citing refs can take a few minutes to figure out. There is a whole page dedicated to helping you learn the basics (and more advanced) of citing your sources. It can be found at WP:CITE. If you have questions or need help with something of a technical nature you can go to the WP:Help Desk and you should get a more timely response. Lastly when you post on a talk page, please remember to sign your posts. This is done by ending your post with four tildes. Those are the squiggly lines that look like this... ~~~~. That will sign your user name with a date and time stamp. Best regards... -Ad Orientem (talk) 18:51, 23 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

But can you just tell me why this won’t work, for example?[1]

That's your tool for adding references. Click on the drop down menu and then click on which type of source you are using. Then fill in each field that is applicable. When you are done you can either preview it or just click "insert" and it will put the reference code in the spot you had first marked with your mouse. -Ad Orientem (talk) 22:14, 23 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Note[edit]

Also by the way, do not tell me that So Fresh isn’t notable. That’s not what I’m asking. I’m saying that I have copied the coding of people doing refs that work, and for some reason, I do the exact same thing and it dosen’t work.

Our notability guidelines are generally found at WP:GNG and WP:NSONG. Please give me a link to what you are trying to cite as a source and I will code it for you. -Ad Orientem (talk) 21:51, 23 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

On Spotify, it says that Jacob Sartorius’s Better With You is an album, https://open.spotify.com/album/5B6tCFDLdMHbd1P3p8ApL5?si=wAbuAS-mTD26vi-i72kIoQ, so can you try that? (Also by the way, there is no source for it being an EP, there is a source for it being an album anyway)

Famous People[edit]

Just why do you just create pages of people who are famous? There are some people out there who know them. Oh and by the way, my song “Cutie” has over 1,000 streams on Spotify, and Girl In Red has a page because of her debut single has over 1,000 streams on Spotify, and I can tell because barely any of her songs charted. CheatCodes4ever (talk) 21:12, 23 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. It is not an indiscriminate collection of information. To that end we have guidelines adopted by the community for determining what we are prepared to include and what we are not. Also we do not allow the encyclopedia to be used for promotion of any kind. To that end editors are strongly advised not to edit or create any article where they have a connection to the subject. See WP:COI for details on that. And I do need to caution you here. If the community comes to the conclusion that you are engaged in some kind of self advertising or promotion, you will end up getting blocked. So tread carefully. You really need to steer clear of articles where you have some sort of connection. -Ad Orientem (talk) 21:56, 23 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Would you accept a page for Bart Baker’s debut album, Celebritease, if it had good references? Just asking.

Unfortunately, music is not a genre that I work in. You would be better off asking the advice of some experienced editors in that field who could evaluate the album. Perhaps Lk95 or Ss112 could give you a hand with that and your request in the above section. Also, and I don't want to nag, but please remember to sign your posts on talk page discussions using the four tildes. Thanks... -Ad Orientem (talk) 04:48, 24 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ad Orientem, this new editor is using the mobile wikitext editor, which provides no buttons or other assistance with signing comments. It's also difficult for most new folks to find the article talk pages on the mobile site (you have to scroll to the end of the page, past all the references and other appendices, and then find the Talk button). Editing on desktop is a lot easier. WhatamIdoing (talk) 04:14, 27 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Responding to your edit summary: We still have to mention it though. According to WP:COVERSONG, no we don't. It clearly states "Only cover versions/renditions important enough to have gained attention in their own right should be added to song articles. Merely appearing in an album track listing, a discography, etc., is not sufficient to show that a cover version is noteworthy. Cover songs with only these types of sources should not be added to song articles, either as prose or in a list." So this particularly cover song does not need to be mentioned until it has met WP:GNG or WP:NSONG. Walter Görlitz (talk) 22:55, 27 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Schazjmd is right. Your user page violates the user page guideline (excessive unrelated content, user pages that look like articles). The user page guideline also explains that the user page is not a place for self-promotion, and you cannot treat it as your personal homepage. It does not belong to you. I just believed the album date was more reliable than the single. The reason is because, I honestly think that album articles are created before the song page sometimes. When somebody creates an article for a Song after that, I’m pretty sure it would be a different person. It’s because they believe something else, and usually, it’s a theory that came after it, and I think the first one is right. CheatCodes4everTalk To me 4:14, 11 December 2019 (UTC)

That seems rather dramatic and no one wants you to leave. Perhaps I only speak for myself here but there are a few things that are getting on the nerves of some of the more experienced editors that are quite simple to address that would ultimately make your experience here a lot more enjoyable. These have been mentioned several times by several different editors, including me over the last few weeks but as yet, you have not listened. Let's start there: listening. There is much to learn at Wikipedia and even though you might think you know how, you probably don't. So slow down, put the brakes on and listen to what the more experienced editors are saying regarding your edits. That brings me to the next one: slow down. As hard as that is, just start slow and learn from others as you go. Creating loads of 5 worded stubs about non-notable YouTube personalities is unproductive. Your time would be better spent improving the quality of existing articles. If you are not sure ask a more experienced editor to help but stop with the reverting when someone reverts your edits. Instead, take it to the article talk page as throwing your toys out the cot won't be tolerated. That's the next thing: the attitude. I realize you are young but don't let that compromise your editing abilities and skills by means of you coming across as a spoilt child not getting their way when you are reverted, which to be honest, is what your above message comes across as. Remember, many of us have been here for some time and we are not punishing you. We just have a better understanding of how things work around here. So in a nutshell: take it slow and ask questions, be civil, respectful, open minded and learn from others as you go. I'm open to any help you may need but for a start I'll need you be receptive to these issues. Robvanvee 10:09, 25 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I just don’t know what I could edit that would be helpful, and what page I could create that would be notable. I tried to create a page for One Direction’s song “Na Na Na (One Direction song)” because the first thing I have to mention is that it peaked at number 86 in Australia. That probably isn’t a very high number. The second thing I have to say is that it also peaked at number 27 in Ireland. I sourced the page with the sources on One Direction discogaphy (which it now redirects to) that said it charted in these countries. The pages were redirected to One Direction discography, (as I said before), which I’m a little confused about. Also, I created a page called In This Place (Julia Micheals song) which I thought peaked at number 3 on Billboard, but it was Children’s Music Charts (I’m starting to think it was also a Billboard chart, but not the official Billboard Hot 100) but wouldn’t that be enough? I’m a little confused. After all, 3 is an extremely high number on the charts. Not really something about music, but probably about being notable, later, I created a page for the Talking Tom and Friends character, Angela, it was marked for deletion (very recently). I thought the character is notable because Talking Tom and Friends is an extremely successful show, and the character Angela is an extremely populated character. She has a toy, she has two apps, a third one is coming, in the show, she is like the third main character and she is literally the girlfriend of the main character. I don’t get what else notability is for a character, because it’s not like a character is like a song, album or EP that charted. It’s more like a popular character, and that’s what Angela is. Can you tell me where I went wrong? CheatCodes4ever (talk) 20:09, 25 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I think that the page I created might have been In This Place (song) Though.

Did you even read a single word I wrote? What an absolute waste of my time! Robvanvee 21:51, 25 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I did read what you wrote. By the way, improving an existing article, I don’t really know many. I did help Child singer, a bit, but would you mind giving me an example of an article that needs to be fixed? CheatCodes4ever (talk) 22:54, 25 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Oh and by the way, if what I said wasn’t related to what you were talking about, I’m sorry. Speaking of what you said, I will listen to what users say and be careful with my edits. You said I should spend my time improving articles, which is what I’m going to do. CheatCodes4ever (talk) 02:28, 26 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This is probably way too late but...[edit]

The root cause of all the problems you're facing is that you haven't been paying any attention to the advice anyone gives you. That doesn't come across as confident, it comes across as immature.

Saying you'll retire only to immediately turn around and say you're not retiring likewise tells us that you don't really understand how things work here. I've written a guide that covers a variety of problems new users face, and there's a game that explains how to edit properly. If you do get to stay on this site, I strongly recommend you play that game and look over my guide before getting involved in anything.

Some people might hesitate to block you if you promise to not edit anything until you complete the tutorial game and study my guide -- but you have to follow through on it. You can't just start up the tutorial, quit it after the first page, and then lie about having read the guide because it will show when you go and screw things up again. But this might not work, thanks to your history of ignoring what everyone tells you, threating to leave, misunderstanding our "clean start" rules, and unretiring immediately after retiring. Ian.thomson (talk) 00:15, 31 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I have been listening. I have re-replied to Robvanvee’s advice on “I’m Retiring”. I am not going to create articles anymore until I am sure about them. CheatCodes4ever (talk) 02:19, 31 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop truncating years from ranges[edit]

Full years are preferred per MOS:DATERANGE, so that means we prefer "2019–2020" rather than "2019–20". While another part of the guideline page says we can shorten the year where space is limited, space is not particularly limited in the header of a wikitable that is significantly wider than the text "Chart (2019–2020)". So please stop making unnecessary edits or "correcting" people when you're not even correct. Thank you. Ss112 05:54, 5 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

RickinBaltimore blocked me saying “Not here to build an Encyclopedia”, but that isn’t true. They also said that I don’t listen to advice, but I actually do. This could relate to Robvanvee’s advice on I’m retiring, which I probably just couldn’t understand. I re-replied more related to the subject. I read a guide about editing wikipedia, and I read the full thing. There was a game I needed to play, but I couldn’t, because when I clicked “Join the adventure!” It didn’t work. I want people to forget about what I did before and have a fresh start, but with this account. CheatCodes4ever (talk) 20:02, 9 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

See below. That said, I am taking the view that the issues here are more likely related to general competence than anything deliberately disruptive. I suggest taking a break for at least a year, and then come back and you can ask to be unblocked per WP:SO. I may also consider unblocking you earlier if you can find an experienced editor willing to adopt you. But for now I think you need a break from here and some time to consider what you want to do and how you are going to fit in with the project on a constructive basis. Ad Orientem (talk) 01:03, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the unblock template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

As I commented on the discussion about your editing at WP:ANI, I am not able to rule on your unblock request. However, I agree with the consensus that your edits, including but not limited to the creation of a slew of unviable articles and drafts, is disruptive. Perhaps WP:STANDARDOFFER may apply in the future (i.e., six months or more), but at the moment, it appears that allowing you to edit is not beneficial to the encyclopedia. Please note that this applies to you as a person; if you attempt to create a new account or edit while logged out, it will be considered block evasion, and the likelihood that you will be able to legitimately edit here in the future will likely be reduced to zero. --Kinu t/c 22:16, 9 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

CheatCodes, two weeks ago you said you wanted a fresh start yet since that time there has not been any improvement in your editing, and more importantly you still the fail to grasp the core concept of notability as it applies to this encylopedia. You may want to ask if you can participate in and complete the Wikipedia Adventure as a condition before being allowed to edit again. You click on "Mission 1" not "Join the Adventure" to get started. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 20:47, 9 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Comment re unblock request I'm not familiar with what precipitated the indefinite block, with no previous block. But I am not altogether convinced that this is a case of NOTHERE. This editor does seem to have made various constructive edits and I am not seeing evidence of malice. It looks more like the kind of rookie mistakes we generally expect from newer editors. To which WP:CIR may be an issue. I am open to correction if I am missing something here. -Ad Orientem (talk) 00:18, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Ad Orientem: the ANI thread may be helpful. Short summary is: there is a 2 year history from this user of problematic and often disruptive editing, with little sign of improvement. I tend to agree that there isn't malice here, but there is a competency question. Best, The Mirror Cracked (talk) 00:50, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Calling this editor's contributions "rookie mistakes" is absurd. First of all, this editor has been editing Wikipedia for two years, under two (known) accounts, and has been a very active editor. How long can an editor be considered a rookie? Secondly, the editor has received a monumental number of warnings, countless people have been trying to help, explain things, but the editor keeps ignoring everything (despite constantly saying that they read and understand those explanations, which is very obviously not true). Evidence of malice? What about vandalising the YouTube article? What about deleting speedy deletion notices from their articles, despite receiving countless warnings that they cannot remove the notices? What about creating countless poor and speedily deleted articles that are a waste of time for everyone involved, ignoring everyone's requests to stop? What else do you want? This is a perfectly clear example of WP:DONTGETIT, WP:CIR, chronic, endless disruptive editing with no chance of improvement. Even the user's unblock request clearly shows that the user still has absolutely no clue what the problem is (or pretends that he/she does not know, which does not matter anyway). If the user, after two years of constant stream of warnings, explanations and requests, is still unable to understand anything anyone ever tells them, an indefinite block is the only option. The only mistake here is that it took so long.—J. M. (talk) 01:01, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry.[edit]

Sorry for my editing to Wikipedia. I am sorry for everything I did - including using my talk page as a sandbox. CheatCodes4ever (talk) 03:10, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Take my advice from your unblock request above. Take the next year off and then if you are still interested you can ask for a standard offer. -Ad Orientem (talk) 03:13, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I will take a break. I might not take a year off, but I will take a break for at least two or three months, I will probably take more. CheatCodes4ever (talk) 03:38, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I think there is very little chance of your being unblocked in less than a year. Whether intentional or not, your problematic editing has annoyed a lot of your fellow editors. And when you do come back, don't be surprised if there are editing restrictions imposed as a condition of being unblocked, assuming that you are. See you in January of 2021. -Ad Orientem (talk) 03:47, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I just want to say one more thing, can you unblock Magicworld888? Users think the account is me, but it’s not. The reason they think so is because it is using the same IP address as 101.177.163.148, and that user was told it was “obvious” that they were me, but I’m not them. So I would like you to unblock Magicworld888. CheatCodes4ever (talk) 03:53, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Also I would like to say that I know that you did not block any of those users, but since you are an admin, you can block and unblock users. CheatCodes4ever (talk) 03:53, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

That editor can post their own unblock request. But I would strongly caution them not to do so if there is any connection between you and them. It's certain that a check user will be run on both accounts and if it is concluded that you are attempting to evade your block, your chances of ever being unblocked would drop to about zero. So I would not go there. Nor would I ever even think of trying to evade your block if you hope to be readmitted to the community one day. -Ad Orientem (talk) 04:00, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That editor was not blocked when CheatCodes4ever posted the unblock request. What made CheatCodes4ever think the user was blocked? I would suggest taking a look at their previous unblock request. Again, CheatCodes4ever thought they were blocked, but they were not. But 101.177.163.148 was. CheatCodes4ever claimed the IP address was not them, but the first edit on the IP user page was made by CheatCodes4ever. Now, Magicworld888 created their account yesterday, and immediately made edits similar to CheatCodes4ever. How did CheatCodes4ever find this user so quickly? Where did anyone tell them about the user? And why did Magicworld888 claim they were not CheatCodes4ever when they were neither blocked nor accused of anything?
In light of these questions, I find the January 2021 date too optimistic. Someone suggested a three-year block, and while that sounds much more reasonable, I think there are fundamental personality traits that are the real, permanent problem here. Some editors at the ANI page suggested watching for possible new accounts created by CheatCodes4ever, and that's what I would recommend, too.—J. M. (talk) 04:45, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

They created a page for apple and blackcurrant juice. How is that related? I work on music. CheatCodes4ever (talk) 04:52, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have requested a check user. If the report comes back as confirmed socking then I am done here. Crystal clear warnings were given about trying to evade your block. I really hope I am wrong. But I would be surprised if I am. -Ad Orientem (talk) 05:01, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

To that person who said I should have a three year block, what they said is actually quite offensive. I’m sure there are many matured people out there who don’t know how to edit the Encyclopedia. Age has got nothing to do with editing skills. CheatCodes4ever (talk) 07:35, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

There is nothing offensive about it. But I don't think age is the primary factor here, that's why I don't think a three year block would be sufficient. The problem is much deeper.
By the way, User:Wiiuplayer is most probably yet another account that was used by Money12122 (now CheatCodes4ever), so it should be blocked, too. You can see for example the edits when Money12122 forgot to log in as Wiiuplayer, but also the Draft:Celebritease(Bart Baker album) revision history or their user page edits (Cutie, which they were adding under the other two accounts, too).—J. M. (talk) 07:51, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I was using Wiiuplayer, but I have a reason. When I created the account, it was because I wanted to edit on Wii U, but at the current time I was using Money12122, and I did not know my password off by heart, I was logged in permanently to Money12122 on my iPad, so that’s why I could still use it after creating Wiiuplayer. I also originally didn’t know my password to CheatCodes4ever off by heart either when I continued editing with Wiiuplayer after creating CheatCodes4ever. However, now I know my password to CheatCodes4ever off by heart so I will not use Wiiuplayer anymore. Hope this is an excuse. I’m sorry if it isn’t. Why? CheatCodes4ever (talk) 08:20, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

WP:NPA restricts what I can say. Construct your own sentence which includes the words "breathtaking" and "arrogance". Dorsetonian (talk) 08:26, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I concur regarding talk page access revoking. Robvanvee 08:43, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock request 3[edit]

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

CheatCodes4ever (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))

Request reason:

(This request was copied from the text on the UTRS unblock request.) So basically, I got blocked on Wikipedia because I was not competent enough to edit; I kept creating articles for random things because I didn't understand the notability guideline. I had previously used two accounts: One that I retired from because I wanted a clean start, and one that I used to edit Wikipedia on the Wii U since I had forgotten my password at the time but could still use my accounts due to being permanently logged in to them on my iPad (I have remembered my passwords now). But when I came clean, I forgot to mention that I stopped using the account, and so I got blocked. And now it is time to come clean about everything. Magicworld888 is someone I know, I suggested that they edit Wikipedia in good faith but that isn't really enough - it's still kind of meatpuppetry if you suggest it. I'm sorry about this. Sadly, I also told them to create a new account - Buttersongs (and they also used Buttersongs2 for reasons that are stated on Buttersongs2's userpage). I am so sorry that I did this. I also had the stupid idea to create a new account but I would hold my toy to press on the keys so it "wouldn't be considered block evasion" even though it admittingly was. But that was a year ago. I'm sorry for all of the stuff that I did there, it was all wrong and I wish I never did it. But I can assure you, I am now competent enough to edit Wikipedia again. I read WP:GNG and I now understand that I need to have reliable secondary sources that are independent and cover the topic significantly, and they must create an assumption, not a guarantee, meaning that they can't be an advertisement or something like that. So if I am eligible to be unblocked, can you please unblock me? Thanks, CheatCodes4ever (talk) 17:01, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Seems to me you just made a perfectly good statement why you shouldn't be unblocked. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆 𝄐𝄇 17:50, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the unblock template again. @Jpgordon What do you mean? CheatCodes4ever (talk) 19:04, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If you mean that thing about the sockpuppeting, I did that when I was immature. I used to be stupid and I didn't understand things. I wasn't smart at all. I've improved my maturity and intelligence since then and I wish I never did that. CheatCodes4ever (talk) 22:10, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock request 4[edit]

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

CheatCodes4ever (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))

Request reason:

My previous unblock request was denied and the admin who denied the request said that they were not going to reconsider and if I wanted to be unblocked then another admin could look into it. I recommend reading that unblock request first so you understand what I'm talking about. Now, I want to note that I am very sorry for everything I did, but please understand that I really wish I never did that and I was immature back when I did it. I don't want my youth to prevent me from doing what I want to do in future. I'm very sorry, but I just want to edit Wikipedia again so I can contribute by creating articles for notable things, adding content with reliable sources and dealing with vandalism and other disruptive edits. And if I can't be unblocked now, is there at least some time where I can come back to Wikipedia? Thanks, CheatCodes4ever (talk) 04:22, 1 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

You will need to demonstrate that you have changed since you were blocked by showing a potential substantive edit(more than fixing spelling or grammar) you would make if unblocked. This unblock request has been declined due to your history of vandalism and/or disruption to this encyclopedia. However, we are willing to give you another chance provided that you can earn back the trust of the Wikipedia community. To be unblocked you need to demonstrate that you are willing and able to contribute positively to Wikipedia. You can do this by:

  • Familiarizing yourself with our basic rules.
  • Read our guide to improving articles.
  • Pick any pre-existing article you wish to improve.
  • If you have trouble choosing an article to improve, see this index of articles needing improvement for ideas. Once you have decided on the article you will propose improvements to:
    1. Click the Edit tab at the top of that article;
    2. Copy the portion of the prose from that article that you will be proposing changes to. However:
      • do not copy the "infobox" from the start of the article (i.e., markup like this: ...);
      • do not copy any image placement code (i.e., markup like this: );
      • do not copy the page's categories from the bottom of the page (i.e., markup like this: );
      • do not copy the stub tag (if there) from the bottom of the page (i.e., markup like this: Foo stub);
    3. Click edit at your talk page, and paste at the bottom under a new section header (like this: == Article title ==) the copied content but do not save yet;
    4. Place your cursor in the edit summary box and paste there an edit summary in the following form which specifies the name of the article you copied from and links to it (this is required for mandatory copyright attribution): "Copied content from exact Name of Article; see that article's history for attribution."
    5. You can now save the page. However, if your edits will include citations to reliable sources (which they should), add the following template to the end of your prose: reflist-talk. Once you have added the template, click Publish changes.
  • Now, edit that content. Propose significant and well researched improvements by editing the selected portion of the article. Please note that we are not looking for basic typo corrections, or small unreferenced additions; your edits should be substantial, and reflect relevant policies.
  • When you are done with your work, re-request unblocking and an administrator will review your proposed edits.
    • If we (including the original blocking admin) are convinced that your proposed edits will improve Wikipedia as an encyclopedia, you will be unblocked.

If you need help while working with your proposed edits, you may add "your question here ~~~~" to your talk page. Thank you. 331dot (talk) 08:54, 1 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the unblock template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Planned edits[edit]

Note: I am not finished yet.
  1. Add sources for and remove the following things on the Jacob Sartorius discography article:
    1. In the extended plays section:
      1. Left Me Hangin'[1]
      2. Better with You[2]
      3. Lost but Found[3]
    2. In the singles and promotional singles sections:
      1. "Sweatshirt"[4]
      2. "Hit or Miss"[5]
      3. "All My Friends"[6]
  2. Add information to the Ocean Eyes (song), Six Feet Under (Billie Eilish song), Don't Smile at Me, Billie Eilish#2015-2017: Don't Smile at Me and Billie Eilish discography#Singles pages and sections that mention that Billie Eilish's debut singles are actually "She's Broken" and "Fingers Crossed" which were released in 2015, while "Ocean Eyes" is a follow-up released in November of the same year.[7] "Six Feet Under", on the other hand, was released in 2016.[8] Note that the reason why I believe that they were singles even when exclusive to SoundCloud is because even though it is not clearly stated that they are singles, "She's Broken," "Fingers Crossed," "Ocean Eyes," and "Six Feet Under" were all released before any project (such as an extended play, mini-album, mixtape, studio album, etc.) was proven to be released and therefore they have not been proven to have been released along with anything. The only other possibility is that they were promotional singles, and there needs to be something clearly stating that they are promotional singles for that to be the case. Also note, I won't add all of the information when it's not necessary obviously.

I can see that you're trying to exercise the "standard offer", but the editing task you've chosen is possibly too complex. Choose something simpler? You don't need to master the intricacies of discographies and other tables to meet the requirements of the SO. Trying to use Spotify as a reference is, all by itself, evidence that you are not following relevant policies. Stick to simpler stuff where you can demonstrate your ability to follow the rules. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 07:14, 21 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. Understood. CheatCodes4ever (talk) 07:15, 21 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This—using the anonymous website as a source (BTW, the article looks computer-generated, with generic template text copied by many dubious websites) and violating copyright by copying text from it—again, as always, shows you haven't learned anything at all. This seems to be a permanent, incorrigible problem, as people have been trying to explain the most basic things to you for years, to no effect.—J. M. (talk) 08:33, 21 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@J. M.: I get what you mean, but for what it's worth, I was actually quite unsure about the source myself. Also, I don't remember being told that it was wrong to copy text. CheatCodes4ever (talk) 08:37, 21 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Jmcgnh: However, I don't get what you mean about Spotify. I am only using Spotify to prove certain songs' existence. I understand it is not exactly the best source to use, but I don't see how it's unreliable. CheatCodes4ever (talk) 21:04, 21 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Jmcgnh: Hello? CheatCodes4ever (talk) 23:40, 26 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Spotify is a storefront, so, just like Amazon, we don't link to it. Also, presence on Spotify does not confer any sort of notability or noteworthiness. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 01:41, 27 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, then. CheatCodes4ever (talk) 02:15, 27 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Jmcgnh: However, I thought that redirects exist because they were mentioned on an article with a notable topic, not because their topic was notable. CheatCodes4ever (talk) 21:36, 5 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand what you are asking about redirects. Redirects come about in a number of different ways. It is one way to set up a plausible search target (such as alternate spellings, alternate names, or names with our without diacritics) for a notable topic. In some cases, an article about a topic determined to be non-notable will be redirected to another topic where they are a relevant part: for example, a band member who does not meet notability requirements as an individual may have their name redirected to the band, which has met them. It's an alternative to outright deletion.

Or perhaps you are thinking of redlinks? – links that do not point to an article at present but which someone thinks may be notable. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 22:35, 5 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Oh okay, I thought you were saying that Spotify was not something that would guarantee notability for The Lorax Singers. As much as I do agree with that and also agree with not using Spotify as a source at all, I wasn't trying to suggest the topic was notable. CheatCodes4ever (talk) 03:50, 6 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Alright, Here's my next unblock request. I'm sorry for everything I did in the past. I just want to explain everything. First off, please read my previous unblock requests. They will help you decide whether or not I should be unblocked. Secondly, about me not listening to advice, I would like to say that I do not know why I didn't listen to advice. What can I say, I was immature then. I really don't know why. One thing I know is that I am very much aware that a song/album charting does not make it notable, and it especially does not make the artist notable. An artist must have reliable secondary sources that are independent and have significant coverage of the topic. In terms of what they mean: "reliable" means that the website can be trusted. This often means a site that is A. Not user-generated and does not have an option to edit B. Provides evidence that what is said to happen happened C. Is professionally made. "Independent" means that they are specifically about the topic. If one were to make an article about a singer, their own website would not be an appropriate source. "Significant coverage" means that the topic is addressed in detail, and the site also must make a presumption, not a guarantee. A guarantee would typically be an advertisement or something, like if it said "Don't be fooled by (insert information here), these people are extremely talented artists", that would be a "guarantee", and therefore, the source would not be one that proves notability. In addition, I personally would like to participate more in reverting vandalism and unsourced/poorly sourced content rather than creating articles. I feel like I will be better at that and it will be easier for me to not disrupt the encyclopedia. Regardless, I would like to say that the reason why I didn't learn for nearly two years was because I didn't communicate with anyone on talk pages. I am sorry to anyone who tried to help me before the date of November 23, 2019, I did not communicate back then. My refusal to communicate/go on talk was due to the fact that certain people in the real world told me not to go on talk for some reason. I would also like to apologize for my somewhat rude and immature behaviour in the past. I am very, very sorry for what I did and please understand that I now understand why I was blocked. Please can I be unblocked? Thanks, CheatCodes4ever (talk) 23:54, 10 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Per the banning policy, specifically the section about community bans, "Editors who are indefinitely blocked by community consensus, or remain indefinitely blocked after due consideration by the community, are considered 'banned by the Wikipedia community'". Looking at Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/IncidentArchive1027#Competency_issue_with_CheatCodes4ever, this has practically happened here. You are thus not eligible for a normal unblock by a single administrator and must appeal to the community instead, following the instructions at WP:UNBAN (create a new unblock request directed at the community asking for an unban, and ask for the request to be copied to WP:AN). Your unban request should: a) specifically describe the issues that led to the ban ("everything I did in the past" is unspecific, put the actual explanation at the top of your request instead of at the bottom); b) credibly promise that you will not make the same mistakes again (your current request somehow implies this, but doesn't seem to make actual specific promises), and c) provide specific examples for helpful contributions that are currently prevented by the block (will you join WP:CVUA? Can you provide specific examples for non-biographical (!) unsourced content that currently exists on Wikipedia and should be removed?). ~ ToBeFree (talk) 01:56, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the unblock template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

Okay, I think I'm officially ready now. Please read my previous unblock requests for more information. ToBeFree has told me that I am banned and this needs to be moved to WP:AN, so here we go. In terms of what I was blocked for, I was blocked for not being here to build an encyclopedia. This was because I didn't listen to advice in the past and it made everyone think I was WP:NOTHERE. As stated in my previous unblock request, I do not no why I didn't listen to advice back then. I guess I could say I was immature? I honestly don't know how to explain it. I really don't. But for what it's worth, it took 22 months for me to start using talk pages. From January 2018 to October 2019, I never talked with people on talk pages. In fact, I used to not even go on my talk page, so if someone sent me a really long message, I wouldn't have read it all (so in other words, if you're reading this @Jmcgnh:, as much as you don't have much to do with this, I noticed you sent me a message here on my old account, but I never read all of it until about 14 months later, so I just wanted to say, I'm sorry about that). Anyway, I have now learnt to use talk pages. Back to me getting unblocked, if I do get unblocked I would like to make edits such as these edits along with participating in reverting vandalism/unsourced edits. I'll probably end up doing other stuff, but one thing's for sure: I won't cause as much trouble as I did in the past. You can learn more about that here. In terms for what I did do in the past, I continuously added unsourced content. This was because I kept forgetting to add a source. However, from now on, I will try my hardest to remember to add a source. In addition, I created lots of articles for non-notable topics. If you have read my previous unblock request, you will see I have learnt from that and now understand how the notability system works. Please could I be unblocked? @ToBeFree: Please could you move unblock requests 6 and 7 to WP:AN#CheatCodes4ever's unblock request and ping all of the users who participated in this discussion? Thanks, CheatCodes4ever (talk) 06:43, 23 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Done, thank you for the request. If questions or concerns are raised, you are welcome to respond to them here on your talk page, pinging the user you're talking to. Make sure to include a signature in the exact edit that contains the ping, or use an edit summary like Username for a more failsafe approach. If there are questions about the procedure itself, feel free to ping me for any questions. To take one away from the beginning: The duration of this discussion isn't fixed, but you can generally expect at least 72 hours, up to weeks. If the discussion is archived automatically and you believe that there was consensus for unblocking despite no action happening, please ping me as well. All the best, ~ ToBeFree (talk) 09:27, 23 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@J. M.: @Yamla: @DoubleCross: @RickinBaltimore: @Kinu: I no longer think the kappaphobia topic is a notable topic, or at least, I no longer think those sites are reliable, also please see my previous unblock requests for more information. CheatCodes4ever (talk) 22:42, 23 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@HighInBC: The editors that I just pinged have not responded to my message, so I don't think it's fair to close the discussion yet. There has only been one new vote since I pinged the users. CheatCodes4ever (talk) 06:02, 25 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Our canvasing policy does not allow you to seek out users to support you. The outcome of the discussion was clear. HighInBC Need help? Just ask. 06:34, 25 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@HighInBC: Okay, but it's still an unfair argument. CheatCodes4ever (talk) 21:26, 25 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Help with something[edit]

It depends on the source, some are primary sources, secondary sources. Wikipedia is a tertiary source. Obviously that information has to come from somewhere. It depends on the source. Naleksuh (talk) 09:23, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
So essentially, primary sources need to verify their claims, secondary sources are considered fully trustworthy? CheatCodes4ever (talk) 02:10, 1 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Using stores as sources[edit]

What Wikipedia policy states that you can't use stores as sources? CheatCodes4ever (talk) 11:40, 16 April 2022 (UTC)}}[reply]

You must first get unblocked- but a store as a source only documents that something exists and is available. That is not significant coverage of the topic. 331dot (talk) 12:48, 16 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@331dot: Okay, but why exactly can't we use it as a source to prove something exists? CheatCodes4ever (talk) 13:27, 16 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Because the only proof we need of existence is significant coverage in independent reliable sources. 331dot (talk) 14:11, 16 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@331dot: But what if there is no significant coverage in independent reliable sources but it still deserves a mention due to being related to a notable topic (ex. an artist's discography, a maxi-single release of a notable single)? CheatCodes4ever (talk) 00:35, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If there is no reliable source then we do not include it. That falls under the heading of original research. -Ad Orientem (talk) 00:37, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I get it now. CheatCodes4ever (talk) 00:41, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Suggested reading WP:V, WP:RS, WP:CITE, and WP:OR. -Ad Orientem (talk) 00:47, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Copypasting URLs[edit]

Can you copypaste a URL while citing sources? CheatCodes4ever (talk) 07:30, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You only have access to this page to request to be unblocked- not for asking editing questions. If you intend to request to be unblocked, you should do so. 331dot (talk) 09:06, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@331dot: But didn't you say that I should state what edits I will make and if I have questions, I can ask them using the help me template? CheatCodes4ever (talk) 22:19, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You may ask questions if you are preparing an edit to demonstrate to us, but you haven't said that's what you are doing, these just seem to be random questions. 331dot (talk) 22:54, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@331dot: I am curious because I am currently working on something that requires citing sources and I would like to know if you can copypaste URLs. CheatCodes4ever (talk) 22:57, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"Me Brain Hurts" listed at Redirects for discussion[edit]

An editor has identified a potential problem with the redirect Me Brain Hurts and has thus listed it for discussion. This discussion will occur at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2022 June 29#Me Brain Hurts until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. Nominator comment: This is unrelated to your current status; I'm following wiki practice in notifying the creator of a redirect of the deletion. It's just due to the title of the song being corrected, rendering the redirect an orphan. 23skidoo (talk) 19:51, 29 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

is open. User needs to appeal at AN. Mulling allowing them to edit AN directly, to optimize the appeal's process. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 16:55, 24 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Archive of the unban discussion[edit]

@Deepfriedokra: The unban discussion on administrators' noticeboard appears to have been archived despite no official discussion closure by an administrator. What should be done? CheatCodes4ever (talk) 20:27, 9 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Deepfriedokra: Hello? CheatCodes4ever (talk) 20:48, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That means there was no consensus to unblock, then. Please try again in six months. @Tamzin, RickinBaltimore, and Ad Orientem: can you offer greater clarity than my muddled thoughts? I guess we should reset the block? -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 22:13, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Above is per their most recent failed unblock request. FWIW, it is my opinion that this user is something close to a blackhole level time sink. I remain opposed to their being unblocked and it is unlikely that will ever change. -Ad Orientem (talk) 22:49, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm of the opinion that TPA never should been restored to begin with. Maybe in a year or two they can come back, but the density of this black hole is massive. RickinBaltimore (talk) 00:00, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

User may an unblock request no sooner than six months from today, and only if they have a significant number of problem-free, non-trivial edits on another wikimedia project. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 16:37, 12 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
