I'm adding JSTOR to an existing citation using VisualEditor. After clicking the citation number, the citation icon, Edit, Change reference type and entering the JSTOR URL and Insert I entered the relevant details in each field of the template including registration in the URL access level. Checking at various stages everything is OK until I add the word free in the JSTOR access level box, according to "If the full text is free to read on JSTOR, type 'free'". That leads to " {{cite journal}}: Empty citation (help): |jstor-access= requires |jstor=" after "via JSTOR.".

I wondered if ticking JSTOR in the list would help but since I'm not sure what to enter in the resulting JSTOR identifier field it doesn't. Why does entering free result in the error notice? I suggest that you use the fully functional desktop editor, which despite its misleading name, works just fine on mobile devices as well, if you are prepared to do some scrolling in and out. TrademarkedTarantula, it is not usually considered to be the responsibility of a Wikipedia editor to transfer content over to Fandom. That's a commercial website with no affiliation with Wikipedia except that it runs on MediaWiki software and Jimmy Wales is involved with both sites. Fandom has vastly different inclusion standards. Of course, some Wikipedia editors are active on both sites. As for Fnatic, I lack expertise in this topic area, but the coverage comes off to me as excessively and almost obsessively detailed for a neutral encyclopedia article, but that requires editorial judgment by an experienced editor more familiar than I with the topic and the sources. As always, it comes down to sourcing. If a reliable independent sources says something, then it can appear in an article. (That is a minimum requirement: not everything in a reliable source will be considered encyclopaedic). If it doesn't appear in such a source, it shouldn't usually be in an article.

Material that might be considered "from a fan point of view" usually doesn't appear in independent reliable sources, and so should be added to a Wikipedia article. If it does appear, it is probably a reviewer's personal opinion, and it may be OK to quote in a Wikipedia article, as "John Doe wrote in XYZ Post that '...'". • Your statement that you are writing a page for your senior leads me to think you have a conflict of interest, which you would have to declare on your user page
• You are using tables instead of {{Infobox cricketer}}
• In the "Playing Career" section, the first two sentences are unreferenced.
• Some sentences do not have a neutral point of view, such as "one of the most reputed clubs", "giving him a platform to perform and adhere to his skills", and "He trains young cricketers to excel in their cricket skills and improve their overall performance."
• In the "Coaching Careers" section, you are using an external link instead of a reference.
• You are incorrectly bolding the section headings.

I'm afraid that, like most new editors trying the challenging task of creating an article, you have approached it backwards - you have started writing without first finding satisfactory sources. This is like building a house without surveying the ground or checking local building regulations.

Not one of your sources meets the triple requirement of being reliably published, independent of Bhoir, and containing significant coverage of him. (Most do not contain significant coverage, and those that do are based on interviews, and so not independent).

The preview is a direct rip from the first few sentences of the page. This is also what google does if you look up something without a preset information box made by google to show. Hi Aiue, welcome to the Teaghouse. A normal search is always case insensitive. Help:Searching#insource: with regexp is case sensitive but slow. For efficiency reasons you should first do a normal search and then filter out the unwanted results: "the its" -insource:/the ITS/. Dear all, today I would like to dive into the criteria for notability of an actress in order to qualify for a Wikipedia article. This is explained in [[4]] .

There, two groups of criteria are mentioned, I quote: the actress...

"1. Has had significant roles in multiple notable films, television shows, stage performances, or other productions; or

2. Has made unique, prolific or innovative contributions to a field of entertainment. (Previously #3)"

I understand the "or" between #1 and #2 so that these two groups are valid alternatively and also in the same time, but not exclusively as in "either... or ..."

I am struggling with the following topics:

a) what is a significant role? There is no further link explaining this. Differently asked, how do I recognize a significant role when I see it? Is the actress' name mentioned at the start of the movie? Is it mentioned in the first ten positions of the final credits?

b) what is a notable film? Here I see a link to an article about a film's notability, I leave it for today.

c) how is it possible to decide/assess whether a contribution to a field of entertainment is "unique, prolific or innovative" ? What is a contribution to a field of entertainment anyway?

d) how is the word "multiple" used here? More than one? More than five? If there is a meaning to the word, why not write it explicitly? The criterion then becomes measurable.

For a) I would love to have at least one measurable criterion: this is a significant role, this is no significant role, because it has or has not surpassed criteria ....

For c) I would appreciate a, possibly non-exhaustive, list of examples for "unique, prolific or innovative contributions to a field of entertainment"

I also need to add that I am not a native speaker of English language, so I am not sure about the meaning of some words in the way they are used here. A "significant" role in my opinion is something more than a mere appearance or one spoken line, but the meaning can vary. There isn't always a specific definition. What does matter is if independent reliable sources consider a role to be significant. The same goes for a "unique" contribution to entertainment, what matters is what sources say. I gather you want to write about a particular actress, or may even be that actress. Thank you for the note. I get the pictures from a friend of a friend of a friend of mine who had the opportunity to work for a production house that worked with L. Pane. As he told me he shot some backstage pictures of Pane during the years I asked him if I could use some of them, explaining him my will to contribute to the bio of this director. He kindly gave me the pictures, authorising me to use them the way I wanted. I published the pictures as my own work just because he told me "just go with it". If you friend wants to authorize their use, they need to email Wikimedia Commons. They can use the release generator here. I've talked to the person who shot the pictures about the issue. I'm totally authorized by the creator. He just doesn't want to appear as the author of the pictures and we should respect his will. I'm copying and pasting what he reported to me: "Please try to understand my point. I'm a well known professional photographer and I prefer to not see my name associated with those snapshots since my professional work is known for a very peculiar style of pictures. Since the objective is purely documenting the work of a director I esteem, you can freely use the pictures with no restrictions. If my will is against the Wikipedia copyright rules please write "unknown" under the author's name. Sincerely M.".

Nobody here wants to break any copyright rules, our objective is just to contribute to benefit readers by making available information on a branch of knowledge. Hello, Bibi. The problem is that you saying "he authorised me" is not enough for Wikipedia's (and Wikimedia Commons') rules on copyright. This is partly because part of the mission of Wikimedia is to make material freely available for reuse, so it generally requires that the copyright holder doesn't just authorise use of the material on Wikipedia, but releases it under a copyleft licence so that anybody can reuse it for any purpose, commercial or not: we would need to be sure that the photographer understands that and agreed.

While release is often done publicly (by a notice on a website, for example) it can be done privately, by the copyright owner sending a suitable email to a particular address: it will be seen only by members of the team that handle that address. Can you please amend your language that states a mob of Trump supporters attacked the capitol? It has been reported that the FBI was involved and I can see from my own eyes that hundreds of thousands of people attended the speech and went to the capitol but did not enter the building nor did they attack anyone. If you want to say a mob attacked the capitol, that is fine. There is not substantial evidence that many Trump supporters entered the building. Creating a new Wikipedia article can be challenging, especially when you have a conflict of interest (COI). To learn how to edit, I suggest you start at Help:Introduction. I suggest spending a significant amount of time editing existing articles to hone your skills. When you're ready to create an article, you would gather multiple published independent (i.e. not written by you) reliable sources that have provided significant coverage of you, and determine whether they demonstrate that you meet Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, called "notability". If so, you could create an account and declare your COI on your user page. Then follow the instructions at Help:Your first article and summarize what the independent sources state, and be prepared for a process that may include months of waiting for review, rejections, and rewrites, before an article is created. Hello and welcome to the Teahouse. An interview would be a primary source and can't be used to establish notability. Wikipedia primarily wants to know what others unaffiliated with him say about him. As you surmised, it would also be original research. Furthermore you would have a conflict of interest with regards to your uncle.

First off, article creation is one of the more difficult tasks on Wikipedia. Guidance is at Help:Your first article, but you may find it easier to dip your toes in doing other tasks first.

Second, since you are writing about a relative you know, you have a conflict of interest, so you'll need to read the guidance there and abide by the disclosure rules.

Now, to get to the question you asked, as 331dot mentioned above, an interview would be a primary source, and Wikipedia really prefers secondary sources when possible. Interviewing him and publishing it online somewhere could be a helpful thing to do (especially if you tag it with an open license, like this one), and the information from it could make its way into secondary sources over time, but it's not what we would want to primarily base an article off of.

I am trying to update the article for Richmond CenterStage but have hit a road block. The article is described as a performing arts center but actually discusses several subjects: a performing arts nonprofit (formerly called Richmond CenterStage Foundation but renamed to the Richmond Performing Arts Alliance in 2017), an arts center made of two joined historic buildings (previously called the Richmond CenterStage complex, it is primarily referred to in the article as the Carpenter Center and was renamed to the Dominon Energy Center in 2009), and a third historic building owned by the same nonprofit but in a different location (in other words, not part of the same building complex).

While the historic buildings pass a check for WP:NBUILD (and one has its own separate article already), I'm not sure if the nonprofit passes WP:ORG. If the nonprofit does pass, I believe the page should be renamed to match the organization's current name and reclassified from a theater to a nonprofit. If the nonprofit is not notable enough, I believe the article should focus on what is now named the Dominion Energy Center, renaming the article and removing content solely about the organization and other building that it owns. I do not know how onerous renaming and reclassifying is, but I'm willing to give it a shot. I'd greatly appreciate perspectives from anyone who has dealt with an article like this that isn't specifically about one thing.

Vegantics skimming the article, it seems like a WP:SPLIT is not necessary. The section about the nonprofit is way too long in comparison with the rest of the article. However, it is mostly WP:PROMO which can take a lot of space. Begin by trimming the unreferenced puffery, and then reevaluate.

@Vegantics: @Sungodtemple: I've seen YouTube videos on "how to promote my business/nonprofit/B&B/whatever on Wikipedia" that recommend "write about the historic building" as a way to establish notability of the topic, and then add stuff about the non-notable entity occupying that building - with the obligatory external link, of course. It's a way to sneak promotion into Wikipedia. Editors have been blocked for doing this. The article should be about one notable subject. I'm working on a bit of a controversial piece with regards to Stanley Kubrick and the elusive "world Assembly of Youth" film, ps the footage has been found. I've started editing the parts I know, but there's going to be a bit of a shocker - because the footage was found, we now know it was produced under the "News of the Day" group, but New of the Day should be de func by 1952.

Now how Stanley Kubrick is involved in this I and other historian's are still not sure. I've literally combed the National Archives(to quote the movie the movie SpaceBalls, "we ain't found ****"), in which not only was Stanley Kubrick not an employee of the Department of State, but other than one document that specifically states anything regarding this film's association with the Department of State wasn't really supposed to be known, nothing is really known about how the film was produced. So here comes this odd inconsistency where one of Stanley Kubrick's resume's states "World Assembly of Youth". Oh, and that he did it for the State Department. Which no one was supposed to know, but fi, he told everyone regardless.

For a documentary film, should one provide a synopsis breaking down the scenes? I figure then set up a header with regards to "Questions of Stanley Kubrick's involvement"?

Also, I have a bunch of pdf's from the national archive with regards to this, and other information from the Roosevelt museum that fill in the gaps of what the "way" meeting actually was intended for - it was a youth meeting to create a consensus on a draft UN bill for Universal Human Rights. So really, the WAY meeting was massively influential on not just the US but the world as a whole, yet has become seemingly forgotten nearly entirely.

One of the three appears to be a minimal announcement in a decades-old newspaper; I haven't looked at this. Another starts "This blog post is a reflection on the process of archival research I conducted for my book Stanley Kubrick Produces." This is not encouraging; but, since it's not published in the writer's own blog, it might be usable. The third is "If you believe they put a man on the Moon; A Fiction-Meets-Fact Story about Stanley Kubrick’s involvement with the Department Of State", by Nicholas Morrish: a long, richly illustrated and possibly [I don't know; I haven't even started to read it] piece available via Google Docs, which starts: "This is the strange tale about investigating whether or not it was possible that world renowned director Stanley Kubrick had been involved with the 1352nd Motion Picture Squadron. Since then, it’s morphed into something of a chronicle of events focusing on Kubrick’s involvement with the Department of State during 1952." Well, let it keep morphing, until it reaches a state where it's submitted to, accepted by, and put out by a publisher that will have subjected it to editorial oversight. Until that happens, it's unusable. That's understandable about my self published nature, but you're unlikely to deny the fact that Professor James Fenwick discovered the film, and thus if my research is based on that discovery and valid, to deny entry is to allow false facts to perpetuate. I have many documents that I would like to submit with regards to the strange clandestine nature of this article, but I keep finding my images are blocked under various claims of dubious nature. These are simple, declassified documents from the State Department and the National Archives at Hyde Park with regards to the historical relevance of Eleanor Roosevelt's impacts on not just national but world affairs. NicholasMorrish, Wikipedia has a very unfortunate way of encouraging people to upload what isn't theirs but to announce that it is theirs, and then to transfer it to Wikimedia Commons (which is where it should have been uploaded in the first place, if it should have been uploaded at all). So it's no surprise that your upload of c:File:World Asssembly of Youth 1952.jpg announces that you are the copyright holder; whereas, as you surely know very well, you are not. The first thing to do is to go there and change the claimed copyright status so that it no longer says that you are the copyright holder and instead says that it's in the public domain, for this or that specific reason (see c:Commons:Copyright rules by territory/United States). Once that's done, you can, I suppose, upload the screenshot with the same PD claim; though NB I may be making a mistake here. Please post questions about, or somehow related to, copyright to c:Commons:Village pump/Copyright. NicholasMorrish, those Imgur files are unpublished primary internal government documents that have no good use on Wikipedia. Documents like that are the raw materials that historians analyze. Hello, Hannydevelop, and welcome to the Teahouse. Can you point out three (or more) of those 29 which meet all three of the requirements of reliability, independence, and significant coverage? (See WP:42 for more details).

Looking at the first few: source 1 has one sentence on SCA (not Significant coverage, and since it is a summary of Oyom's presentation, it is probably not independent of SCA).

2 is published by SCA, and so not independent. 3 is not independent. 4 is the same text as 1 (so it is misleading to present it as a separate citation). 5 seems to be all (or at least mostly) by Odom.

I'm not going any further through the list. As I say, it's up to you to present the sources which establish that SCA meets Wikipedia's criteria for notability. It might be helpful to remember that Wikipedia is not interested in what the subject of an article says or wants to say about themselves, or what their associates say about them. Wikipedia is only interested in what people who have no connection with the subject, and who have not been prompted or fed information on behalf of the subject, have chosen to publish about the subject in reliable sources. @Gartners: Wikipedia is always looking for high quality appropriately licensed photos, but it generally preferred that you upload such photos to Wikipedia's sister project Wikimedia Commons. You probably should, however, take a close look at c:Commons:Licensing, c:Commons:Derivative works, c:Commons:License revocation, c:Commons:Reusing content outside Wikimedia and c:Commons:Enforcing license terms before you start uploading anything just to make sure you understand what it means to upload your photos to Wikipedia or Commons. You may want your photos to be used in Wikipedia articles, but there's no 100% guarantee that such a thing will happen. If other members of the Wikipedia community feel that you're photos aren't improvements to the articles in question, you may have to establish a consensus in favor of using them on the relevant articles talk page. One other thing to consider is that even if the photos do end up being used in Wikipedia articles, there's no way to limit their reuse to only Wikipedia. Others will be able to freely download the photos and use them in pretty much any way they want without out needing to get your permission each time they want to do so as long as they comply with the terms of whatever copyright license you choose. UserAV666, it's true that appropriate pictures usually improve an article, but they do not improve it in ways which reviewers take into account when they accept or decline the draft.

(It's a bit like having an MOT test on your car – the examiners test all sorts of things about the car's structural integrity, engine emissions, working components (like lights) and safe condition, but they do not care if it has a nice paint job.)

@UserAV666 The standard way to inform other users about the languages you speak is to use the {{Babel}} template. See the documentation at that link. This automatically adds your name to the category pages for users who have competence in the language, e.g. Category:User fr-5 See my own Userpage for an example. I had a submission on a business declined stating the reference articles were not in-depth. They are coverage on some leading edge technology the company has built, such as integrations to Uber, etc. I have 23 references and think it as in-depth as other business pages I see on Wikipedia. All gifs on the pages for the letters of the english alphabet are missing. Apparently they were removed because they were "ugly" Which sounds very bias. I thought they were perfectly fine honestly.
