The American white pelican (Pelecanus erythrorhynchos) is a large aquatic soaring bird from the order Pelecaniformes. It breeds in interior North America, moving south and to the coasts, as far as Costa Rica, in winter. Along with the trumpeter swan, it is one of the longest birds native to North America, with an overall length of about 50 to 70 inches (130 to 180 cm). The beak measures 11.3 to 15.2 inches (290 to 390 mm) in males and 10.3 to 14.2 inches (260 to 360 mm) in females, while its wingspan is around 95 to 120 inches (240 to 300 cm). The American white pelican does not dive for its food as some other pelican species do, instead catching its prey while swimming. Each bird eats more than 4 pounds (1.8 kg) of food a day, predominantly fish, which ranges from the size of minnows to 3.5-pound (1.6 kg) pickerels. This adult American white pelican in non-breeding plumage was photographed at Las Gallinas Wildlife Ponds in San Rafael, California.Photograph credit: Frank Schulenburg

Languages[edit]
These are available for almost all languages Wikipedia is available in (with the exception of {{User en-0}}
and {{User en-4}}
), but listing them all here would take too much space. Just substitute the language code you want to use for "en". See Wikipedia:Babel for a complete list.
You can combine up to 100 languages in a single box by using the affix in {{babel}}; for example:
{{babel|en-0|fr|nl-2}}

Awards[edit]
It is the custom to reward vigorous Wikipedia contributors for their hard work and due diligence by awarding them a fitting barnstar, or other award. Substitute the appropriate text when giving an award.
See Wikipedia:Barnstars for more details.
WikiProject Barnstars[edit]
A WikiProject barnstar is awarded for work on a WikiProject, or work of substantial interest to those members of that WikiProject. See also Awards by WikiProject. These are some examples.
Image | What to type | Description |
---|---|---|
{{subst:Bio-star|Message ~~~~}} | The Bio-star is awarded in recognition of exceptional article contributions in the life sciences. This is part of WikiProject Biology. | |
{{subst:The Spoken star|message ~~~~}} |
The Spoken star may be awarded to an editor who makes outstanding contributions in the form of spoken articles for Wikipedia. Outstanding contributions may include: recording ten good articles, recording three featured articles, or doing an incredibly good job of recording one long, complex, excellent, featured article despite all odds. Awarded by WP:SPOKEN. |
Userboxes[edit]
eg | This box is an example of what it looks like |
Code: {{userbox|cyan|lightblue|<<The userbox heading, you can also add images>>|<<Your main message>>}}
A userbox is a small coloured box which allow users to add small messages on their user page. It is an extension of the babelboxes used for user's language abilities. Examples include what web browser they use, hobbies or WikiProjects they participate in.
