Removing "see talk page"[edit]

Any objections to removing "see talk page"? Templates like {{fact}} or {{who}} don't have it either, and oftentimes "where?" is quite self-explanatory. -- Lea (talk) 06:18, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, since this template isn't used very much, I've just been bold and changed the "talk" parameter to default to "no". If you don't like it, please leave a note here and/or revert it with a comment. -- Lea (talk) 06:20, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'd be in favor of removing it also. Debresser (talk) 07:36, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Example[edit]

It would be great if the template documentation included an example of how this template is intended to be used. Hyacinth (talk) 02:12, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Where link goes to unrelated page[edit]

If you click the Where link (also shows on hover for many users), it goes to Wikipedia:WikiProject Countering systemic bias. That seems to be in error. Stevie is the man! Talk • Work 16:22, 7 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That's what brought me here too. Though I couldn't find any relevant replacement link like how {{clarify}} goes to Please clarify. If anyone finds something, they can make an edit request here for an admin to add it. -Ugog Nizdast (talk) 06:50, 11 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I might be able to explain the link to Wikipedia:WikiProject Countering systemic bias. One of the systematic biases on Wikipedia is that it is centered on the United States of America. The question "where?" implies that it should not be assumed that the text relates to the USA, but rather the location should be specified. Having said that, I agree the link is not ideal. Debresser (talk) 20:23, 11 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps this would be a good page to link to: Wikipedia:Naming conventions (geographic names). When using this template, we're trying to get a clarified geographic name. Stevie is the man! Talk • Work 14:37, 13 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Or it could not link to anything. The word "where" is clear enough. Debresser (talk) 01:39, 14 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'm also not sure I understand why it links there. While I agree it's a likely bias for an american reader that an un-named location might be assumed to be the US, I don't see that being a general assumption, nor that linking to this wikiproject serves any real purpose. The project page provides no guidance to finding where something happened nor how such a location should be included. I agree that geographic name conventions or no link at all would be more suitable. Sam Walton (talk) 20:41, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I've changed it to link to Wikipedia:Naming conventions (geographic names) which is considerably more useful to the reader when investigating such a tag. Sam Walton (talk) 20:42, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

TemplateData[edit]

I tried adding the TemplateData, but in the Visual Editor, it only shows up under Where/doc instead of Where. Help? –Prof. Squirrel (talk) 19:17, 7 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No "reason=" field?[edit]

The closely-related "When" template has a useful "reason" field. Yet this "Where" template lacks such a field. Could this be added? Feline Hymnic (talk) 10:44, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
