To report an error in content currently or imminently on the Main Page, use the appropriate section below.

• Where is the error? An exact quotation of the text in question helps.
• Offer a correction if possible.
• References are helpful, especially when reporting an obscure factual or grammatical error.

• Can you resolve the problem yourself? If the error lies primarily in the content of an article linked from the Main Page, fix the problem there before reporting it here.   Because there are multiple magnitude scales and for most people it’s a meaningless number other than bigger is worse. We quantify disasters typically in number of deaths or damage.   for most people it’s a meaningless number: Having lived in an earthquake region, most people in those areas can gauge a 4 from a 5 from a 6 and a 7. I dont think the general press ever mentions a specific scale, certainly not in the headlines. —Bagumba (talk) 19:03, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  Having lived through the Christchurch earthquakes, most offices had informal sweepstakes following aftershocks and many people could consistently get within 0.4 of a magnitude, with many also able to say which of the 3 fault lines had caused it.
