How to upload SVG logo for sports teams[edit]

Hi Denver20, I trust you're well. I made my first Wikipedia addition last night. :) I added a logo of a local cricket team which was promptly removed. Today I left messages with four contributors who have uploaded cricket logos before. I was reprimanded for leaving the same message with four different people and advised to be “adopted” by a more experienced editor. I found your profile under Adopt-a-user and hope you can assist me. See here my original query: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:SVG_help#SVG_logo_for_Bloem_City_Blazers. Can you please explain how I can upload a SVG file for a sports team? Adopt-a-user - please check your details[edit]

Hello, I have been doing a cleanup of the ‘Adopter’ information page for the Adopt-a-user Project, located here. During my cleanup, I've removed several long-inactive and retired users, leaving just the most recently active ones, whether they're currently available (14 users) or not currently available (24 users).

In order to provide potential adoptees with an easy location to find people, the Adopter's page needs to be up-to-date with the latest availability information. Thus:

  • If you are no longer interested in being an adopter, even in the future, please remove yourself from the list, and delete any {{adopting}} templates from your user pages.
  • If you are still interested, but not currently available, please check the list to see if your details needs to be updated - especially with regards availability. (A dummy edit would show me you’ve checked and are OK with what’s currently there.)
  • Feel free to add a line at the bottom of your entry to show how many adoptees you’ve previously helped. I’m sure that would be of interest to newcomers, especially when you do return.
  • I have also cleaned out nearly 100 inactive editors still flagged as seeking adoption. That leaves just 18 people currently interested in being adopted.

You are receiving this message because you are listed as an adopter here, but have made relatively few edits over the last year or so.

Finally, as an editor with previous experience of adoption (unlike myself!), you might wish to respond to the (admittedly long) comments I've made here about how I think the project could be improved and got working again. I've also 'been bold' and tweaked the project pages a wee bit. Regards from the UK, Nick Moyes (talk) 00:45, 31 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting[edit]

@Aloneinthewild Hi There. I found that your recent edits on Nottingham Trent University had the removal of a vast amount of content which made me to feel that this was an issue of section blanking/page blanking. Since this article contained matter which might have sounded like an advertisement, I am glad that you have removed the unnecessary content and apologize for blanket reverting your edits. Thank you for your works in keeping Wikipedia away from advertisement toned content and I apologize once again for overseeing your edits. Denver| Thank you (talk) 14:36, 15 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism[edit]

I saw that you gave IP block notice to IP 92.97.... but he is still continuously vandalizing the pages. How long do you need to wait to block a user? I don't know the process and hope that you could block the person since I don't think that the person is checking any talk page or even caring to check it. Thanks. Sagavaj (talk) 15:23, 15 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Sagavaj Hi There. Thank you for contacting me. I believe I must have given a IP Block notice to the user you have mentioned. However, I would not be able to block the user as I'm not an administrator and hence cannot impose a block on the user. I would suggest you report the user to WP:AVI. Reversion of short description at Assassination of John F. Kennedy[edit]

Hi Denver20, Did you revert the Wikipedia:Short description added to Assassination of John F. Kennedy intentionally? If so, why? · · · Peter (Southwood) (talk): 10:57, 16 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Peter (Southwood) Hi Pbsouthwood. I had first reverted the edit done by an IP (100.0.100.46) before you had added a short description. After reverting the edit, I had to revert the edits done by the IP Address (220.240.4.166) which was after you're addition of a short description; however in this process your edit was also reverted along with the IP edit to the last revision done by Acroterion. This was not intentional and is regretted. While not everyone is perfect and considering the high volume of edits being done on Wiki articles every minute, as a Patroller I could make mistakes unintentionally. Thank you for understanding. Denver| Thank you (talk) 11:33, 16 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No worries, I thought that might have happened, which is why I asked. There are a few people who have deleted short descriptions intentionally, also why I asked. Easily fixed. Cheers, · · · Peter (Southwood) (talk): 13:13, 16 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@PaulThePony Hello PaulThePony, Welcome to Wikipedia! Glad that you wanted a mentor to help you in editing and answering your questions. Since I’ve not adopted anyone in a while I shall be able to adopt you with pleasure. Since you are interested in adding an article first, I would suggest you read the WikiBasics on How to write an article (choose a topic which you think has not been covered over here) and start adding relevant and sourced content to it. Always start your first article in the Sandbox, so you can experiment every feature you like and after you are done with your article let me know so I can help you in publishing and crosschecking the factuality and layout of your article. Let me know shall you need any further help or have any questions. Denver| Thank you (talk) 15:44, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much, Denver20! Will do!

PaulThePony (talk) 01:32, 3 October 2018 (UTC)Paul[reply]

Denver20, you suggested choosing a new subject for my sandbox page. What if the subject has a page? In this case a writer/artist. Do I work entirely within my sandbox before considering editing the already created article?

PaulThePony (talk) 16:53, 5 October 2018 (UTC)PaulThePony[reply]

@PaulThePony Hi There. Your sandbox page can be anything from any topic you like, writing a sandbox page is just to try out the edit features and discover the various types of ways you can put forward your content on Wikipedia. Sandbox is just as the word says, it's a playground for editors. Now when it comes to writing an article on the main wikipedia, you need to select someone or subject which is not written about in Wikipedia, it could be a budding artist from you're city band whose gathered a lot of popularity for example. However if you feel that the person you plan to write about is already present in a wiki-page you can help by editing the page and updating new content (you must include your sources of information maybe like a news agency etc). So once you're familiar on the basic of editing you can go ahead and edit the article you wish. Denver| Thank you (talk) 17:08, 5 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Denver20, how do I adjust spacing in the article? There are lists and each item contains three lines in some cases. I'd like to have each separated not by a single space and not by a double space. Where is it in visual editor to change such spacing? Thanks, PaulThePony (talk) 03:16, 7 October 2018 (UTC)Paul[reply]

Rollback granted[edit]

Hi Denver20. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! AGK [•] 17:32, 5 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please participate to the talk pages consultation[edit]

Hello

Our team at the Wikimedia Foundation is working on a project to improve the ease-of-use and productivity of wiki talk pages. As a Teahouse host, I can imagine you’ve run into challenges explaining talk pages to first-time participants.

We want all contributors to be able to talk to each other on the wikis – to ask questions, to resolve differences, to organize projects and to make decisions. Communication is essential for the depth and quality of our content, and the health of our communities. We're currently leading a global consultation on how to improve talk pages, and we're looking for people that can report on their experiences using (or helping other people to use) wiki talk pages. We'd like to invite you to participate in the consultation, and invite new users to join too.

We thank you in advance for your participation and your help.

  1. Which media can i upload for a article? How do i find media for articles I've created.
  2. How does wikidata work?(need some brief about how it helps overall functioning)
  3. If an article exists in another language, can i rewrite it in english? or do i have to translate it or something.
  4. how are pages different from articles?

It would be great if you could help me out. The information i came across is really very confusing and I'm really not sure how it all fits in together. iamvardhana (talk) 15:20, 27 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Alert[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in post-1932 politics of the United States and closely related people. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor. Galobtter (pingó mió) 12:42, 20 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Denver20,

I noticed the edit I made on Hypergravity was undone. I contend that it would be better to re-remove the sections I initially removed, because they were factually incorrect or bordering thereon. I don't know the specific protocol of Wikipedia's content, but I sincerely hope that misinformation is not deliberately and willingly kept only to fill up a page with bad content. IMO, the page on Hypergravity would be worth more if it were 200 correct, concise words, than what it is now: 1000 words filled with what is -no offense intended to the authors- rubbish. I had already briefly outlined my concerns about the article on the corresponding Talk page before making the edit, and it was not contested at any time. I cannot shove said explanation into the tiny edit summary, but please feel free to read the Talk page and share any criticism or doubts about my points. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LuxArdens (talk • contribs) 14:19, 10 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I was curious to see if there might be any way that I might be able to pick your brain on some best practices around your processes for creating new pages and editing pre-existing pages. Any insight you might be able to share would be super helpful.

Thank you! Hope to hear from you soon. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thederekjohnson (talk • contribs) 21:23, 11 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Joe DeRita[edit]

Hello,

I'm just asking about my recent edit to Joe DeRita which had been reverted on the reason of being to be appeared not constructive since I've used references regarding the passages written. Why it was considered as "not constructive" by the Wiki standard?

Sorry, for the inconvenience. Cheers. --103.3.221.149 (talk) 13:18, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry for bothering you again. I actually have a user account, but had edited the page above anonymously because I forgot to log in. This is my account if you intending to reply my message.

Thank you. Have a nice day. --Yong-in (talk) 13:54, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

-Hello @Yong-in (talk)

I have reviewed your edit and the primary reason it was reverted was because it was an edit by an IP which involved removal of content and re-formatting which is usually difficult to be scrutinized considering the high volume of edits taking place at any given instant. Since you have a WIKI account I'd be glad to confirm that you're IP edits have been reinstated. To make it easier for a recent changes reviewers in the future I would ask you to use your actual Wikipedia account so you could freely edit constructively without getting reverted.

Happy Editing! Denver| Thank you (talk) 14:10, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much for your understanding regarding this matter. As for myself, I promise I will be more careful and cautious in editing (and make sure myself will use my account rather as an anonymous IP) so this incident will not be repeated again in near or far future.

Have a nice day. --Yong-in (talk) 14:44, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Glasgow Airport[edit]

Please make yourself familiar with our guidelines and the aviation portal consensus before lecturing others. We do not state all the Corona-related route suspensions in airport articles. Best regards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.174.167.5 (talk) 14:40, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@188.174.167.5 (talk)

Hello There, I would appreciate if I could know where exactly this consensus has been approved. A link to the discussion would be helpful :)

Denver Correia | Thank you ~:~:~:~ (talk) 14:44, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

There has been several discussions, please refer to one of the admins. Consensus is we will no longer list all the suspensions due to the large amount. Best regards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.174.167.5 (talk) 14:49, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

188.174.167.5 (talk) I'd appreciate if you could link me to this consensus before you continue to apply this 'consensus' in your edits.

@Magog the Ogre (t Whoops. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. It was unintentional and I didn't scrutinize the edit history well enough before reverting the edits.

Adoption requested[edit]

Hi Denver, I need an adopter, someone who can show me around the organizational pages of Wikipedia. I submitted an article out of the blue yesterday. From the early reactions I got, the article was received but I don't know where it went, how I can retrieve it and save it. I'm completely befuddled by the talk and user pages and how to negotiate them. I find Wikipedia help pages of moderate help. I'm a yachting media journalist which explains the subject of my first WP article. I'd like to more naval architecture content, if only I can understand the ways of Wikipedia. How say you? 2021DutchSailor (talk) 13:57, 27 June 2021 (UTC).[reply]

You think that page need to be deleted, or not deleted ? I say that page don't need to be deleted, this page is not wrong, not bad, and not nonsense. You can conctact me, on my talk page, and i can respond you! See ya! --TomFZ67 (talk) 14:35, 27 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
