Engraving of Theophilus Eaton's house in New Haven as it appeared during the 17th century. Eaton was a wealthy merchant and one of the founders of the New Haven colony along with John Davenport. Located on the north corner of Elm and Orange streets, the mansion had 21 fireplaces.
