Eldon is an unincorporated community in Mason County, Washington, United States.[1] Eldon is located along U.S. Route 101 on the scenic Hood Canal north of Lilliwaup and south of Brinnon. Eldon features a small store and several recreational areas and businesses catering to travelers and locals.

Eldon is located at the coordinates 47.5453703, -123.0459903. Eldon is south of Brinnon and north of Lilliwaup.

The population of Eldon, Washington is about 599.[2] The Median age is 60.5.[2] Most people in Eldon, Washington are Republican at 50.16%.[2] The average number of people per household is 1.87.[2] Most people in Eldon are Male at 50.6%.[2]

History[edit]

1900's[edit]

Eldon was a busy town in the early 1900s when logging operations were extensive on the upper Hamma Hamma River.[3]

1920's[edit]

Constructed in 1924, two identical concrete tied-arch bridges that span the South Hamma Hamma River and North Hamma Hamma River on either side of Eldon are listed in the National Register for the innovative engineering employed at the time of construction.[3]

In 1925, Eldon Store; Eldon's biggest gas station was believed to be constructed.

1930's[edit]

A CCC side camp was stationed near the Hamma Hamma River.[3]

2018[edit]

The 2018 Maple Fire occurred in Mason County SW of Brinnon, WA in and near Eldon. The trees burned for almost 3 months and it costed 4.5 million dollars to contain.[4]
